  • CWU and WOU Recruiting 2026

That time of year again to track the incoming recruits, so I thought I would make a topic that covers both the NW programs.

WOU just got a big commit from 3-star (84 ranking) QB Gabe Casanovas from St. Vincent de Paul HS in California. 4 year varsity player, 3 year starter, 7300 passing yards, 98 TD to 19 INT, 2666 rush yards and 32 TD in 54 games. 2x state champion. Insanely underrecruited with only an offer from Nevada. Insane pickup for the Wolves.

Meanwhile for CWU, with the coaching staff leaving, it will be a waiting game to see who gets hired as the new coach and how many of their current players with offers from CWU will keep those offers. They have 3 known commits so far, who haven't announced their de-commitments...yet. 2 offensive linemen and a state champion 5-star kicker.

Thanks for the update, did not know about the WOU QB commit. He sounds great.

Utah Tech QB Skyler Cassel, from West Valley HS in Yakima, has offer from CWU and Western NM, among others. Never really played in Saint George over 3 years. Has 2 years left

Former CWU kicker Ashton Woff has committed to Western Oregon, over multiple FCS and D2 offers. He handled kickoffs for CWU in 2022 before transferring to Colorado State. If I recall, he was one of the top 25 ranked 5 star kickers out of high school.

I watched him play against Sunnyside a few times. He could wing it. Does CWU have any receivers left or did they all transfer too?

Great pick up for the Wildcats. What I don't understand is why these guys just don't sign with Central Washington out of high school? Utah tech? Which used to be Dixie? Your parents can rarely watch you play. Central Washington has a great program, drives me nuts when these in-state guys do this stuff. I get going to Washington State and Washington and Oregon State and Oregon, I don't get leaving for Utah Tech or something like that. It happens all the time and Oregon and you never hear about the kids ever again.

Featherstone is returning, and I assume Juergens. After that, A bunch of backups and red shirts and stuff who will be looking for playing time

He picked a crap FCS program instead, and never or barely played. Now he will have to battle to even start at CWU next season

Didn't CWU sign a Gatorade POTY qb two years ago?

They may be getting better scholarship offers.

Yeah, Utah Tech used to be Dixie. They had a pretty quick transition from JUCO to D2, and then to FCS.

Yeah last year. Matson. He should me in the mix to start next season. Should be a wide open battle though

CWU just got a big time RB in Olympic HS star Chace Webster. 2400 rush yards and 40 TD last season, State 2A Offensive POTY and Kitsap Sun area POTY. I figure he is essentially the replacement for Antoine Lee.
