  • Scott Power Returns to the LSC to Coach CWU!!!

Scott Power, former defensive coordinator at CWU and Texas A&M Commerce (East Texas A&M), has been hired as CWU's next head coach! https://wildcatsports.com/news/2025/...h-for-cwu.aspx

He more recently was d-coordinator at LA Tech and Western Michigan and most recently an assistant at Wisconsin. This was one of the former CWU assistants I was thinking of as a candidate, so I am super happy to see this! Maybe Nate Johnson will come back to be his defensive coordinator. I assume Ferriter will be heading to Portland State now

Looks like a good hire. He has an impressive resume.

Amazing Hire! Homerun! Like I said a bunch of former CWU assistant coaches/head coaches had interest. CWU won’t skip a beat. Just have to replenish through the portal and silly transfer world.

I will also say most of their the recruits that the previous staff had offered still have not committed anywhere, and Fisk's staff has only offered a small handful of them offers for Portland State. So power definitely needs to have a chat with all the remaining players in the portal to try to keep as many as possible, but also to reach out to those other recruits to hopefully re-honor the offers. We can still salvage much of the recruiting class but they need to get to work right away.

Congratulations to you guys! Looks like yall are ahead of the curve on major transitions including big coaching changes. The rest of the LSC has a lot of transitions to make also. I feel that at least a few have some major overhauls going on also. I think we will look at August 2026 and say “ oh my gosh “ if the Lord does not come back before then. Looking forward to the LSC posters hammering it out! Looking forward to a drama filled 2026 Lord willing!

I kinda remember him. His history of looking for the next big thing worries me a little.

Always a chance of him moving on after a couple of years of success to an FCS head coaching job or back to an FBS coordinator job. But that's the landscape. If we had an NAIA coach come from Montana he would be wanting to do the same probably. Even Fisk went from being an NAIA and D2 coordinator to now being an FCS HC. It's going to be very rare to see coaches sticking around for a decade at programs when promotions are always becoming available every year

Outside of John Picha, name a CWU football coach that hasn't taken the next big thing...

There are some out there in the D2 landscape. I imagine Ferris' coach is getting approached quite frequently at this point. I guess we were lucky to have Fisk as long as we did.

There's just so much money out there now, even bad FCS schools have dough.

Portland State is a bad FCS job and they lured a great coach.

If we can get five years, I'm happy, that allows for a foundation, builds the program, builds and promotes assistants. Anything beyond that is borrowed time. I'm wondering if Fisk stayed a year or two longer to wait for his kids to graduate. I have no idea, but just thinking out loud. Great hire.

Money isn’t everything. But, taking a 50,000+ dollar pay cut to be the Head Coach at CWU is curious. I just hope his Wife is aware of this…. Could be a dry spell in his future.
