I mean they have admitted Sul Ross and Western New Mexico so I think they would immediately be competitive to a certain extent along with Texarkana if they do take their football program seriously.

Yeah, location is good. Only 11 miles from where wife and I just signed a lease on a 55-and-older apartment in Ft. Worth.

Wesleyan has had a lot of success. It may take a few years but they should be competitive.

Look at Tyler today. They have made great strides since moving up.

I'm very old by now, but I throw up a little bit when I realize that WT is in a conference with the likes of Texas Wesleyan, Sul Ross, and Western New Mexico, with no disrespect to those schools. Blows my mind. But it will stop when I begin my dirt nap.

But can you even imagine for a minute that, 40 years from now, UNT, Tulsa, or Colorado State find themselves flopping around in the LSC? That is what occurred.

I still remember my Dad, cousins, and his friends excited when WT beat Oklahoma State at Oklahoma State in 1980.

He went to UT in the late 60s and was a proud graduate of WT in the early 70s.

Dad is now pushing 80 and he has an aneurysm even now if I offer to take him to a game against Eastern New Mexico or Sul Ross when I am in the area.

It angers him to no end why WT has fallen to play those type of schools.

The LSC bringing these schools in makes me think this league is slowly turning into the GNAC up here in the PNW...........some great volleyball, basketball, baseball, T&F/XC schools..........but not much going on with football, which is how CWU and WOU got into this mess in the first place. Our D2 path since 1999 has been GNAC for a few years, independent for a few years, NCC for two years, GNAC again and now LSC.

I've really enjoyed the Lone Star conference for football. I realize our time might be short in this league. The teams coming to Monmouth have been very talented and well coached. The Lone Star players have been very classy and they always go 100%. It's been an excellent football league for the Northwest schools other than the extensive travel.

Contrary to popular belief on this message board sometimes, the Texas schools really aren't that hamstrung by travel. They have to make one trip to the Northwest per year. I've yet to hear a Lone Star coach or player from Texas complain about the trips North.
