  • Possible New Midwestern State stadium.

Hadn’t seen any Midwestern fans in a good while, but seen this on a podcast. Doesn’t sound like a first in class venture, but would be an improvement for what they currently have.

Few of my not on the record Midwestern State friends that have kids on some of the sports teams are telling me the rumors are that they are privately dangling a future D1 exploratory committee if that new stadium becomes a reality.

Where have we heard this story go down before?

6k students. Need to quadruple the athletic budget. I can save their exploratory committee a lot of time and money right now.

I seen in the article that the phrase “getting to the next level “ was tucked in there. Don’t know if TT would be looking to help out on a Midwestern or Angelo move, but you never know.

Don't forget about all the cool concerts, plus graduation will be held there too! Of course ESPN will be there all the time because they love broadcasting from AAA high school stadiums, even if the home teams sucks for eons. Enrollment will go through the roof thanks to a new on-campus stadium!

There's always money for a new stadium as long as someone else is paying.

The initial talk on the stadium is that it will be 1st class all the way. Maybe the best in DII thus far.

            We'll see.

That would be cool in my opinion. There are so many dynamics working to keep a college relevant in today’s environment that I wouldn’t care to guess. It goes way beyond than just wanting to look good on paper in athletics. I believe Angelo is an institution that has proved itself to make prudent decisions as a rule to promote itself as a learning institution first and to be competitive in whatever extracurricular activities it is involved in. I believe That TT was the best alternative for both ASU and MwU if they didn’t want to go it alone.

Absolutely!! Much better than the TAMU route.

We shall see what happens in the near future 😊

Tarleton may differ but yeah the other D2 institutions have been left out in the cold.

And I would have won the lottery if I could have wagered on your response. As soon and I pressed "Post Reply" I almost, verbatim, nailed your response. Fantastic!!! Haha.

You are right....Tarleton differed, for two reasons: 1) Tarleton is TARLETON, no A&M in the name; 2) They were going D1 and going to grow with or without the A&M affiliation.

Unfortunately they are the ONE (1) of TEN (10) A&M affiliates that have done ANYTHING. And it appears as it will remain that way for the forseable future.

I have a feeling that it'll be one or the other, if they do it. At least for a little while.

Both doesn't make sense to me.

                          1) Haha. If you knew this, you would have put that on your original post.
                          2) Tarleton didnt win a national championship in anything during their time in D2 except for individual ones in track and no teams championships in any sport. WT has done it in numerous sports and Commerce did it once in Football.
                          3) Only 4 of those affiliates are D1 and 2 of them are recent former LSC schools that did the transition in the last 6 years. The third one doesnt have Football (Corpus) and the other one is Prairie View A&M.
                          4) Tarleton has done exactly the same in D1 as in D2. Made the playoffs in several sports and never will win a team championship in anything.

Prairie View has a pretty nice stadium for a school that has fewer than 10K students.

It’s easy for you to say and do when Daddy Warbucks has picked their favorite in the A&M system and funnels money to you like there is no tomorrow.

Fricken joke the aggy Board of Regents has become.
