Could not believe there wasn't any push back but thats a conversation for another day. Hopefully minds are changed and kids can see some fans in the stands.
I'm definitely not an infectious disease expert, it's just a gut feeling - but I do check the numbers everyday and we have improved drastically since November/December. We are actually, finally, beginning to "flatten the curve" both here in the US and worldwide. I still think we need to be smart about it, but we don't need to keep people away from scrimmages. Like Laker said, it's outside, and it's also a big stadium.

I heard the lower divisions stopped football because of the NCAA's testing requirement. I'm not sure how the NAIA handled it, but I can see lower division teams not being able to afford it. Kind of a bummer reason, but at least we're getting back to it now instead of sitting out all spring too.

Read in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that USF Cougars are heading to northwest Mo. on April 10 for a scrimmage with the bearcats and are hosting MSUM for the same on April 24. Cougars do not play the Dragons in the fall. my bad I see it was already posted.

        Interesting matchup here with UCM.

"The Augustana football team has set its spring competition, as the Vikings will travel to Warrensburg, Missouri, on April 17 to face the Central Missouri Mules of the MIAA in a controlled scrimmage."

This makes for 2 interesting matchups with the MIAA top teams. Wish they were being streamed. If anyone sees word of that, please link here, etc. Thanks.

MSU went to Morningside March 20th and from what I heard, the Mustangs formerly known as Maroon Chiefs did pretty well. Mavs had 40 players who hadn't taken snaps before. Two freshman QBs getting most of the work since Ekowa can't play this spring. MU is the top rated team in the NAIA.

Last Saturday D3 Gustavus Adolphus came to MSU. I don't have any details yet. Next up will be NAIA Grand View who is ranked #2. Now that should be interesting.

Because of state rules the GAC scrimmage was limited- I think they got 50 tickets and MSU had 200. I had a chance to go but I had a reaction to my second Covid shot and stayed home. For the life of me I can't understand limiting the numbers that low but I disagree with a lot that the state does and won't get into a political discussion. Hopefully someone wakes up and becomes more reasonable as you are not going to have thousands of people at scrimmages.

Minot has set a couple of joint practices with regional NAIA teams. They also announced a Spring Game for April 24th.

I would think that Dickinson would want to play for sure since I think that they are an automatic for the playoffs after winning the North Star. I'm no expert on the NAIA- I assume that they have AQs. Maybe Jamestown or Valley City?

Wayne State will host Nebraska-Kearney in a scrimmage on April 17th in Wayne. The event will begin at 2:00 PM with group practice drills between the two teams. Following a short break around 2:30 PM, the two squads will face off in a controlled scrimmage from approximately 2:45 until 4:00 PM. Fans will be allowed.

This will be the first "game" for new WSC coach John McMenamin.

Always fun to see WSC and UNK square off.

Wildcats edge Lopers 14-7 in controlled football scrimmage
                        wscwildcats.com

Wayne State edged Nebraska-Kearney 14-7 in a three quarter controlled football scrimmage played Saturday afternoon at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.

The visiting Lopers marched down the field and scored on their first series of the scrimmage, driving 70 yards with running back Damien Cearns capping the drive on a five-yard TD run giving UNK an early 7-0 lead.

Wayne State scored on their second series of the opening quarter, driving 55 yards after stopping UNK on downs at the WSC 45. Quarterback Tavian Willis fired an 11-yard pass to freshman tight end Trey Miller with 1:01 to play in the first quarter, evening the score at 7-7.

Willis guided another Wildcat score on the next WSC possession early in the second quarter, capped by a two-yard scoring run by Hartington Cedar Catholic freshman Jacob Keiser. The PAT kick by Alex Powders was good giving the Wildcats a 14-7 lead.

The scrimmage began with one-on-one and 7-on-7 drills by both teams.

The controlled scrimmage featured three quarters of play with starters and reserves playing. There were no kickoffs or punt returns and quarterbacks could not be tackled.

Wayne State visits Chadron State next Saturday, April 24, for a scrimmage at 11:30 a.m. (CT).

Thanks to Minnesota State for prepping Morningside this spring. Top ranked Mustangs hammered Carroll (Mt) 55-0. Tip-o-the-hat to Laker

Talked to a bunch of people. One big guy came up to say hello and shake my hand. He came back later and thought I was the guy from Channel 9. Well, at least he didn't say the Porn Channel. Stayed until half at 34-0 then got to Northwestern to see them score against Dickenson. That Northwestern at Grandview game should be really good. I plan on going to Brookings for the SDSU game with Holy Cross. I'll have to see what happens for the week after that.

Not so fast my friend. Tickets sold out this morning in three minutes. Mostly because they are limited to 25% capacity and season ticket holders on Monday could buy 8 tickets. Maybe Santa Claus can make a special trip for me.
