Your idea is to hire 1-10 Briar Cliff staff to turn around Minot state?

augie oc is a no-brainer or someone from my team, Delta state?

1-Location (being really far up north and a lot of recruits don't see this as awesome..and the winters can be brutal) A bit of an outpost as well.
2-History of losing (pretty such since they entered the conference in 2012)

I don't get the impression that coordinators on top teams are seeking out this job. Maybe I'm wrong on that. But coaches talk..and while someone will take this gig..and it could be a very good coach, but they'll know they have some heavy lifting to do. James Schrenk (fired Augie OC) was in the running for this job with Aldrich got it, but they have changed over their AD since that time and I think a very fresh search will be done. While a younger coach looking for their first head coaching gig seems the most likely scenario here..we could see a veteran coach looking for another chance..to some extent that was Mike Aldrich.

I think the school is just a bit short of being fully funded..as I have that on good info. I'd guess future success would be viewed like Mary or maybe a Moorhead..a winning season is pretty favorable given the powers you are up against = the 7 teams we had in playoff contention this fall.
Would somebody like Hunter Hughes from WTAM who needs a second chance be a good candidate?

You are referring to the guy who was just fired/released because the offense at Angie under performed for most of 2022?

Hiring a coach fired by Augie has never failed Minot St before

Minot State concluding brief interviews of selected group of finalist for the Head Coaching position. Would expect 3 or 4 finalist to be interviewed in person next week or at The Convention in Charlotte. Process is moving fairly quickly; compared to previous HC searches at Minot State—-and I am sorry to say that there have been many head coach searches over the past decade; this being the 4th.

                "fairly quickly"..?

It was a month yesterday..and a few more weeks yet by the sounds of it. USF's was done within a month and people were losing their minds about that..haha.

I realize the Christmas break is part of this..but the wheels of a search don't slow down as you kinda run the risk of losing much of a potential recruiting class. It's too bad that if they were going to make this move (not real hard to see coming as the season moved along) that you'd have some people lined up shortly after the change.

I had honestly forgotten that this search was still ongoing

Low end 90/95/ high end ( over paid after Hefner’s departure) 105. Don’t have any idea on budget. Cost of living is reasonable. The coaching graveyard might be true. Some facilities need to be updated and to get quality players to commit to Minot you will have to over pay/spend; which means you need more scholarship money. Tuition costs are very cheap- which would help on the trying to increase scholarship numbers.

it is not a great job by any means. Middle of the road D2 job, at best.
I'm pretty sure USF pays six figures as does Augie.

NSU is at just a hair shy of 119k

Relatively in comparison to past searches, it has moved more quickly. No process or major decisions ever moves as fast as the general public wants.

Aldrich was named January 24th or 25th.
                        Hofner was named in February.
Hughes would have been named in April after Hofner left abruptly.
There is your history lesson for the day.

Recall that two weeks passed after the last game and when the job became available. That is why this is pushing into mid to late January. They did not make the change the day after the season as USF did. And yes, it handcuffs the recruiting process as well as the new coach (very limited time to recruit “ his players”).

But hiring the former assistant that won 1 game of a coach fired by Augie, would work? :)

                            Top candidates selected/identified.
AFCA convention and AD convention will wipe out next week. At the earliest announcement in two weeks; most likely early the following week (week of January 23rd).

Have the finalist; but will let them announce what they want; when they want, if they want.
