I'd be for this if we make it mandatory that they have to play at least two Power 4 schools in every sport, every year. I could use a good laugh hehe

You're right, it's a pipedream but it would be awesome. Natural rivals, local teams, less travel.Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post
I keep having a hard time with your take of ‘forcing’ Duluth and St Cloud into an NSIC hockey conference. St Cloud and Crookston were allowed to stay after dropping football, so the NSIC has already shown themselves to be powerless and afraid of making a move.
We all agree Cloud should have been removed, but if they're going to keep hockey we may as well incorporate it in so everyone is under the NSIC banner

The fact that they are in the room and privy to the debate going on is a lot. They can add and interject as they or the conference sees fit, especially on debate dealing with hockey that most of the members of the Power Conferences will have no interest in outside of the Big Ten and a spattering of teams out east.Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
Says who? I know they are holding all of our hopes and dreams in their D1 hands. But, what's supposed to stop them from voting in their favor and not the small schools? Also, again what is one vote, supposedly representing the other 7 of us, is going to do against the other conferences that are majority D1 or exclusively D1?

Agreed, they need to be gone, it would be putting Crookston out of their misery and killing athletics at St. Cloud which could be the death nail or a saving grace for the school to not stay open exclusively for Hockey.
Also agree that Cloud and Duluth should be brought back into the fold with the rest of the conference teams, if that means another school or 3 add D1 hockey and having the league leadership enact the rule that if there is enough squads for an auto bid the NSIC must play together.Last edited by Purple Mav Man; 07-03-2025, 08:11 AM.

Bowling Green will vote in the best interest of the conference. They represent the conference. Without them, it's a bit of a crap shoot.

That's fine and dandy but again there is nothing forcing Bowling Green to vote in the D2 schools favor at this point anyway. Is Bowling Green's vote going to be meaningful if the other conferences decided to vote against D2 schools best interests? I just don't get the fear here.

Careful what you wish for. If the NSIC formed a hockey league, it would not have a seat at the D-I rules/regulations meetings as they do not have a full D-I member. At least the CCHA has Bowling Green, which at least gets them into the room for talks, not that it means much outside of the Power Conferences.
Not sure how not having a full D-I member in the league would affect the time frame for the auto bid as well. I would guess there would be a probationary period, which without a D-I member may make it harder to limit or wave.

I thought that must be the case, something is holding them up with the transition. Maybe the NSIC will do the majority of this threads dirty work and deny them D2 access lolOriginally posted by Stanger86 View PostI haven't heard a clear reason, but did hear that the league announcement is expected to come next week. They are waiting for something on the NCAA end, apparently.

Well at least Jims's play football, SCSU and UCM drop football and keep their conference credentials. SCSU bugs me the most, they're 3rd or 4th largest school in conference and should play hockey in CCHA. What should have happened is CONTRACTION!!!
