Yeah, it has. I heard some discussion several years ago that they wanted something different, but that obviously didn't go anywhere.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post
Winona's stadium must have had significant upgrades over the years.

You are correct Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center is the crown jewel of the the MN D2 football programs! SMSU should change their motto to "We haven't won a lot of games lately but at least we play at a stadium with running water!!"Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post
Well, actually SMSU is the newest....and I wouldn't call it old or dumpy.

Back to North and South, but they will have an open week and week 0 like today. I assume they haven’t made an announcement because it’s still the 2024 season yet. There won’t be any carry-over of the scheduling from this year..it’ll be reset and new and a 2 year thing at a time, if my memory serves me right.Originally posted by Thunder View Post
It was more of a question wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing I was hearing. I don't believe anything has been formally announced by the conference. I believe that will be the scheduling format, but am not 100% certain. I thought I had already seen someone in the NSIC announce a nonconference game for 2025 and 2026 but I don't recall who that was now.

I've been trying to find pictures online of the old set up but haven't had any success. Home side was all bleacher seats and you entered under them on the 50 yard line, that's been closed off but you can still see the area that used to be entrance. Visitor side and end zones were filled with those tiny 3-4 row metal bleachers. Turf was added in 1999 and I believe that's when the visitor side was updated to the bleachers they have now. Press box and suites along with the student section bleachers all went up in the mid 2000's. The last update I know of was the scoreboards and video screen in 2019.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post

That's what you get when you are part of MnSCU. St. Cloud had the newest stadium and look where that landed their program. Maybe it is a good thing we are dumping $$$ into a stadium! LOL!

Built in 1939, it has to be the oldest stadium in state universities in MN. At 85 years old, it's time to be replaced. That Dakota State facility would look great with the lake in the background..

No disrespect but Chet Anderson Stadium is a dump! Great view of the lake and the eagles flying overhead but the rest of it is terrible!Originally posted by Millsy View PostI would love to see something like that at BSU. I bet they have running water, working bathrooms and actual concession stands.

I'm not 100% sure - but I was told once that WPA projects tend to have a lot of regulations in front of them that make it almost impossible to tear down under normal circumstances. Though I just Googled it and it looks like those regulations might be tied to structures being officially designated as historical places - which then varies by local/state/federal rules.Originally posted by Millsy View Post
I don't really know a whole lot. I know when they turfed the field, I had heard they wanted to build just on the Campus Side and maybe around the NW end zone. That would leave a view of Diamond Point Park and the lake in place. But, that is going on 12+ years now.
I had also heard at one time, since the bleachers were a WPA project, there are some historical things that have to be considered.
That being said, the Chet was funded during the WPA era by the federal government, but does not appear to be a WPA project nor can I find a record of it being a "historical place" (officially) - so at that point it's probably just up to the administration on what to do with it.
