Maybe hiring a coach with RMAC ties will lead to an affiliate membership.

Jimmies have their new men's soccer coach.

Pro: they actually managed to poach a sitting D2 head coach, as he was previously the HC at Adams State in the RMAC from 2022-2024

Con: he had a combined 3-43-4 record in his 3 seasons there

He previously worked at Emory & Henry during their own D2 transition, so that plus the fact that he was a D2 head coach seems to indicate that Jamestown is at least committed to keeping their men's soccer program, seeing as they hired someone familiar with the D2 landscape and the challenges of transitioning a program. That said though... Were there really no better options?

Running out to Funk 49 as the James Gang would actually be pretty righteous.

Just found it on Wikipedia. In 2019 the athletic teams at CSB were officially rebranded from the "Blazers" to the "Bennies". I sure missed the announcement at the time. Just like Bennie and the Jets.

I went to a NCAA basketball playoff there decades ago to watch a gal who I had coached against when she was in HS. She gave me a Blazers cap- I didn't know that they had officially changed it but everyone called them Bennies anyway. The last St John's football game that I was at last year the coeds all seemed to be wearing Bennies apparel.

Very much an MIAC name- Johnnies, Tommies, Oles, Gusties, Carlton used to go by the Carls.
Fun fact from the Concordia-Moorhead website:

Before the name Cobber stuck, however, Concordia athletic teams tried out many names. Early teams were called Lutefiskers, Corncobbers, Corncobs, Concordians, Lutherans and Vikings.

MIAC has the Bennies too and St. Catherine is the Wildcats, which sorta works

Isn't Jimmies a derivatives of MIAC naming system.

Johnnies, Tommies*, Gusties, Aggies, Oles, Bennies...

By that logic, we should have the Hamline Hammies. But no...
