Raboin was offered and declined - according to the rumor mill.
Sounds like Brett Larson is the next target.
Personally, I think they need to hire someone that "knows the culture" - they haven't won a title in close to 25 years, and I'd like for that culture to continue.

Josh Kotai was announced as a finalist for the Mike Richter Award - which was a given. Guy was lights out all year. Fun to watch.

I saw an X post that Brett Larson, Grant Potulny, and Garrett Raboin are lined up for interviews this weekend. I would expect an offer next week or two. A new coach has to be in place to keep current players and commits from bolting.Originally posted by Millsy View Post
Raboin would be a solid choice right now. He is young and has done well at Augie.
I have seen people online wanting Grant Poltony, but what has he done? He was average at Northern Michigan, and average in the AHL. Other that being a Goofer hero from 2002, his coaching resume is not that solid.

ACHA Update
D-I Men, #2 Ohio University beat #9 Adrian 3-1 for the title
D-II Men, Florida Gulf Coast beat Oklahoma State 3-2 for the title
D-III Men get started today, no NSIC schools are involved
D-I Jamestown and Minot are in the same pool with Michigan-Dearborn. Have to win the pool to move onto the semifinals.
Minot beat Jamestown 5-4 (OT), Michigan-Dearborn beat Minot 2-1, Jamestown and Dearborn play today (Friday). A Jamestown win and there is a three-way tie for the pool at 1-1. Head to head would be a wash, tiebreaker #2 is goal differential, tiebreaker 3 is goals against.
D-II Women, Jamestown has been eliminated after going 0-3 in pool play. Sault College (Ontario) repeats as champion.

Fleck has it made. Win 7-8 games a season along with a bottom tier bowl game then collect a raise. What a life.Originally posted by Millsy View Post
I guess the AD needed something to do this off season. Fleck isn't going anywhere, and both BB coaches have been recent hires. Time to shake up the hockey programs!

Probably why his name is being brought up more than his coaching ability - "Hometown Hysteria" is very real with Goofer fans.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

Be a bit of a bummer for Augustana if Raboin gets hired away - that rebuilding process is always rocky.

Sorry Augie.

Gotcha - thanks for the clarification. I forgot about the whole Sac State ordeal.Originally posted by Millsy View Post
I think that was in regards to if Sac State got it's sh*t together with joining the MWC. If Sac State wanted to join in all sports, NDSU had the right of first refusal.
Now that Sac State is out of the picture, I am not sure if that would still be on the table if someone else wanted to go all in.

The current deal is for football only - so there's nothing for MSU to "replace" at the moment. NDSU ditching the Summit likely won't happen for a long time, if at all.Originally posted by MrMustang View PostI agree Dakota State is likely to join the NSIC, primarly because Mankato is going eventually replace NDSU .
As for DSU - they've made a ton of stride in the last several years, athletically and institutionally. Been fun to watch. I'd like to get down there to see a basketball game sometime.

Thought I heard that - "first right of refusal" type deal or something.
I know that's not in NDSU's current plans because it would cost a fortune and travel would be a nightmare, but being able to ditch the rest of the Dakota schools would be huge for them in the future if they want to get serious about sports. Hope they choose to pull that off down the line.
