i look at it this way… The NSIC does not have a sign posted “Now Hiring” nor have they posted an “opening”. In order to get the job, the candidate would have to really wow the hiring committee (NSIC). In this case, it just isn’t there.

Now, if the NSIC did have that opening posted, and Jamestown showed interest, that’s far different.

You’re afforded the ability to be much more choosy when not in a position of desperation. The NSIC doesn’t need to expand, or fill any openings, as of now.
There is an opening. Everyone sees it. Are they advertising for it? Maybe not. But it doesn't mean it's not there. Jamestown saw it. I'm sure Morningside sees it, as does Grand View and whatever other schools people think would be better. And getting by fine with 15 doesn't mean they wouldn't be better off with 16, whether Jamestown or someone else.

That's the point of the no vote for right now, if someone better wants in they should take it. The NSIC doesn't need to add Jamestown just because we lost 1 team. There's no immediate need!

There is a potential opening that they aren’t actively looking to fill. That sounds like they can be choosy to me, and not jump at the first school that shows interest in moving up.

No doesn’t mean NO forever. It can be no for now.

It almost seems like you’d financially benefit from it for how hard you’re lobbying! Haha

        • Another factor: Maybe the NSIC has knowledge of a member school exploring other options? They may want to wait and see how that/those situation(s) plays out first. That would be the responsible move anyway. Waiting is just fine.

          • Jamestown has been voted out of the GPAC as of the end of this academic year. https://gpacsports.com/general/2023-...20231011mi3rze

Gross, feels like a formality now. Just gross.

Oof. Well, they might be in a pickle if the NSIC says no. Kinda goes without saying I guess.

                • If they join the NSIC, I expect they will be no worse a member than Upper Iowa. For some, that will be a worthy member of the conference. For others, it will be an embarrassment.

For the record, UIU's last three seasons at D3 level, the football program went 3-7, 2-7 and 1-9.

Swap one private school with declining enrollment for another, make sense to the brain trust in Burnsville!

Jamestown just had its second-highest enrollment in school history last year, only second to the year before.

I think someone just wants to troll. Jamestown is a nice school.

There's a set of programs that have taken a "step down" after Crookston dropped football. Some benefited and some were hurt by playing UMC. Northern Division teams can't bank on at least one win anymore.

UIU benefited from them every other year. Now I suspect some teams are missing the near lock of beating UIU.

                            • The signs would say this almost feels like a sure thing for Jamestown being accepted into the NSIC now.
