I keep having a hard time with your take of ‘forcing’ Duluth and St Cloud into an NSIC hockey conference. St Cloud and Crookston were allowed to stay after dropping football, so the NSIC has already shown themselves to be powerless and afraid of making a move.Last edited by Purple Mav Man; 07-03-2025, 08:11 AM.

The fact that they are in the room and privy to the debate going on is a lot. They can add and interject as they or the conference sees fit, especially on debate dealing with hockey that most of the members of the Power Conferences will have no interest in outside of the Big Ten and a spattering of teams out east.Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
Says who? I know they are holding all of our hopes and dreams in their D1 hands. But, what's supposed to stop them from voting in their favor and not the small schools? Also, again what is one vote, supposedly representing the other 7 of us, is going to do against the other conferences that are majority D1 or exclusively D1?Millsy

You're right, it's a pipedream but it would be awesome. Natural rivals, local teams, less travel.Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post

We all agree Cloud should have been removed, but if they're going to keep hockey we may as well incorporate it in so everyone is under the NSIC bannerMavs > Everyone

I'd be for this if we make it mandatory that they have to play at least two Power 4 schools in every sport, every year. I could use a good laugh heheOriginally posted by Dan Brookens View PostHear me out: New Division I NCAA Conference:

IMO - the more I read his posts, the more I think he enjoys the beaurcracy of college sports more than the college sports itself. An NSIC DI hockey conference would be absolutely awful - nobody that watches college hockey wants that. Jeopardizing the future of your program just to boss around UMD and SCSU is a pretty wild take.Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post

Now - I'm all for the NSIC running an independent hockey conference for the DII schools to take advantage of the CHL avalanche, but even then the conference would struggle to run it.Last edited by SW_Mustang; 07-05-2025, 02:47 PM.

This might be a tough pill to swallow - but all that matters in hockey is making the NCAA Tournament. It's not a participation trophy sport like basketball where everyone holds hands and sings campfire songs. Winning is the only thing that matters. BGSU doesn't win, so they don't matter.Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
That's fine and dandy but again there is nothing forcing Bowling Green to vote in the D2 schools favor at this point anyway. Is Bowling Green's vote going to be meaningful if the other conferences decided to vote against D2 schools best interests? I just don't get the fear here.
What you are advocating for would push MSU back in hockey by two decades. Sure it would weaken the NCHC a little, but it still wouldn't get MSU out of an autobid situation. Sorry- but NSIC DI hockey makes absolutely zero sense.

Wonder if they are waiting for the official announcement...but maybe I'm giving too much credit.Originally posted by debergfanBash Crookston all you want but they at least have their women's soccer and volleyball schedules updated. Jamestown, nothing.

What official announcement would they be waiting for? Their football schedule is up and in the article where they hired their old HC as ST coach, the NSIC stuff is all over it. Maybe some other announcements?Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post

This was posted on the Moving Day thread, but I figured it belonged here as well. Jimmies men's volleyball has found a home

Men's volleyball is still a growing sport, so this is still the best case scenario for their program. Next closest sponsoring conferences would've been either the MIVA, which stretches into North Carolina, or the MPSF on the Pacific Coast.Originally posted by debergfan
Average bus ride nearly 12 hours. No word on Men's Soccer though.
Jimmies men's soccer is definitely independent, at least for this year. Their schedule released a week or two ago

Growing sport or not, that’s got to be awfully difficult to run the program even close to break even. That’s a lot of travel and very little revenue (other than of course the tuition from the bloated roster).Originally posted by Finchwidget View Post

Although their recently completed schedule was all over the map too. And they went 7-20
