  • Jamestown has yet to be added to the NSIC homepage header as well. I thought this was supposed to get cleared up this week?

Maybe the NCAA overlords did the dirty work for us and denied Jamestown *fingers crossed*

    • So, I usually follow the PSAC. But, I thought that Jamestown was already invited and accepted?

I know nothing about them. Were they any good in their last conference?

I’d offer you ~2400 posts (pretty much) on that topic.

TLDR: Jamestown is in as of July 1, 2025 and they weren’t good in their previous conference except for women’s volleyball. Basically finishing 7th annually in their all sport standings. And they have ALL sports.

I believe they were waiting on approval to move forward to year 2 of the transition from the D2 Membership committee

                • It's wild to me that Jamestown, despite being nothing more than a wide spot on a North Dakota highway, was the birthplace of both Darin Erstad and Travis Hafner. I didn't even know there was baseball in North Dakota... I just thought it was a cool military base in Minot surrounded by miles upon miles of existential dread... and wheat.

Congrats Jamestown, I guess. Joining the NSIC is definitely the most exciting thing to ever happen in a place like that.

Jamestown actually has a pretty nice ballpark in town. Has a short right field due to the river.

Jack Brown? That is a cool looking stadium.

                          • Bad news guys - Jamestown does NOT have a Wendy's. The closest location is on 18th Avenue in Far-Go, North Dakota, which is approximately 91.0 miles from Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium in Jamestown, North Dakota.

This means your average Jimmy must "Go Far, to Far Go" for a JBC and a chocolate Frosty. Jamestown becomes the only NSIC town in North Dakota to not have access.

As a man of the people, this highlights a deeper issue that I've been trying to discuss with conference leadership - with only Northern, Mary, Minot, MSU, CSP, UMD, USF, AU, and MSUM (*via Far-Go) having access, what does that mean for the rest of the conference? Seems like it would be a hit to recruiting for just about every other team except Wayne.

Concerned citizens in Bemidji did start a petition in 2021 that fell short of their goal of 75 signatures:

                            Petition · Build a Wendy’s in Bemidji Minnesota - United States · Change.org

                            (Happy Friday)

Someone needs to pony up the cash and buy into the franchise!!! Who wouldn't want to get a Frosty in Burrrrrrmidji?

"To open a Wendy's franchise, prospective owners need a minimum net worth of $1,000,000 and liquid assets of at least $500,000. The initial investment ranges from $2,000,000 to $3,500,000, including a $40,000 franchise fee."

I always get a kick out of some of the Facebook posts about Alexandria needing this, that and whatever restaurant. What these locals don't realize is that a lot of these franchises have population requirements and the franchisee also has to have a lot of skin in the game. I believe it was Texas Roadhouse that came up just a couple of weeks ago.

The initial investment for a Texas Roadhouse franchise can range from $3.89 million to $7.9 million. This includes the franchise fee, real estate, construction, equipment, and initial inventory. You'll also need to factor in ongoing fees, such as royalties and advertising fees. Texas Roadhouse also has population requirements in the 40,000-60,000 range (Alexandria's micropolitan population size is a little over 40,000, I believe).

Mankato does need a Texas Roadhouse. And any decent size city in the Midwest could use a Culvers.
