And, just an FYI, Interstate driving in North Dakota bumps up to 80 MPH today. But, from what I have heard, the cops are no longer giving the 5 MPH leeway. Two MPH over, you may be pulled over.[/QUOTE]
What was it before? I remember driving to Williston years ago and being surprised with them on 1 land roads. They clearly understood people wanted to get out as fast as possible.

Found out that the car doesn't like 80 MPH from a gas mileage standpoint....... I guess the sweet spot is somewhere between 60-75 MPH.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post

My Thunderbird got 30 mph at 62 mph. Then I got a Ranger. 18 at that speed. I don't feel comfortable at 80 mph anymore with my Escape. 70 is fast enough. But yes, you can watch the gauge go down.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

I've noticed that with my vehicles as well. I'm not saving any time by driving faster if I have to make more gas stops. I usually set the cruise at 70 mph.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

Plus I've noticed it's a lot less stressful to let everyone else worry about passing me, instead of being the one worrying about passing others.

I guess with the price of a barrel of light sweet crude where it is at (opened a hair over $65 today), the State of North Dakota had to do something to try and increase production in the oil fields. Let's let everyone drive 80+ and burn more fuel.Millsy

Sometimes I leave early and drive slowly on the way TO a game. Very relaxing because I never have to worry about being pulled over and can watch the countryside. Also, less likely to get there late and worry about driving too fast. I still get there ahead of time.Originally posted by Tundra_Man View Post

I wish I had that patience. Unless I'm driving through a town I'm always going at least 5-10 over the speed limit. That usually bumps up to 15 when I get to Minneapolis. Don't get me started on Chicago.Originally posted by laker View Post
