Nice! I remember doing that once and thinking "never again!" - but I've really taken to walking in the past 5-6 years so I'd be fine with it now.

My hometown course is in a river valley and I think it's gorgeous. Kinda bummed I only got to play it once. We'd always go up to Raymond because it was a bit more laid back.

My son and I always walk. I have a push cart, but he carries his clubs. I turn on my fitness tracker before a round, and we usually log between 6-7 miles in 18 holes.

Funny story: About 10 years ago we were playing Willow Run here in Sioux Falls, which is a really tough course to walk due to the hills. On the first tee we discovered that we had gotten paired up with USF coach Jed Stugart and his son. They were in a cart and had somewhere they needed to be after their round, so they were hurrying. My son and I were literally running between holes to keep up with them. We finished the round in well under 3 hours and felt like we'd just taken a beating.

A decade later my son and I still regularly talk about the day we "got Stugarted" on the golf course.

I couldn't imagine trying to run from hole to hole. The only time I've done it was to get away from a nasty red winged blackbird that was attacking my head.

Years ago I bought a gps watch, its fun to track steps and distances. Most 18 rounds for me are around 6.5 miles and 14,000 steps.

              • Geez, I guess the Jimmies are not supposed to eat.....

Or someone needs to do a better job of cleaning around the fryer.

The move to D2 ain’t cheap. Need that insurance cash apparently.

Speaking of insurance, with the storm that hit Bemidji earlier this summer, the Sanford Center really took a hit. Insurance is covering most of the repairs, which is great, since the arena is 15 years old and a lot of damaged equipment was nearing "it's end" and needing replacement.

With the move, would UJ need to bump some wages up and add office staff?

Not certain about either. My guess is the wages would be higher in NCAA D2 than NAIA, but I can’t speak to that. But I would also think that they’d have to try to be somewhat competitive wage wise in the conference.

As far as support staff…seems their athletic office and teams were already quite bloated. So likely not?

                          • First impressions of the deep dive to Jamestown are entirely positive.

                            More details to come.
