  • Jamestown volleyball won't be touching the top 10 in the central for a long time.D2 will be rough for Crookston 2.0. They're not ready for D2.

    • Busy week and just didn't get on here but here is a rundown of Jamestown.

      1. Take the back roads. some of the small town in South Dakota and North Dakota are pretty nice. they are not dying. Not big towns but the farm economy is good and it shows in towns. Went by the Bobcat Plant in Gwinner. Massive place. Keeps America humming with great equipment.

      2. Nice ballpark in Lisbon. Nice ballpark in Lamoure.

      3. Lots of Catholic churches in those msall towns. Mostly German Catholics.

4.Went by Omega Tower near Lamoure. Before GPS, this was used to position naval vessels and subs all over the globe. One of 7 that were used by the navy and coast guard. Phased out with GPS.

      5. The back roads in ND are great. Hidden beauty.

      6. Jamestown is a nice town. Plenty to like.

      7. We stayed at the Fairfield by Marriot. would recommend. great outdoor patio with a fire pit and great place to relax, have a drink, and have a cigar.

      8. Jamestown Country Club. Good track. Enjoyed it. Just a step below Marshall Golf Club. But the greens were huge and impeccable. great greens.Nice course. will play again. Played well. Better on the back nine after I got used to the greens.

      9. Ate at Hondo's Hideaway. on the Resevoir. good food. place was packed. sat outside and looked at the big lake. reasonable prices

      10. Speaking of resevoir's - had no idea of the jamestown Resevoir and I have been to Jamestown several times. never got north of town to it. Huge lake. were dozens of boats still out there as the sun was going down.

      11. Jamestown campus is nice. Stadium is nice for D2. Closest comparison is Upper Iowa. Nice crowd. Rained the 3 hours prior to kickoff which i think hurt the crowd some.. PA was too loud. But good people and nice place. The stats were down and they have some work to do to get up to speed on being D2 and NSIC. Growing pains.

      12. Like the Orange helmets.

      13. We did not go to the buffalo. I was outvoted. shameful. I have been to it many times but to me it is like going to Bemidji and not visiting Paul Bunyan and Babe. Shameful

      14. Trip gets a "A". Back roads. small towns. great freinds and great conversation.

Some of the biggest goofballs in Midwestern sports, I'll say that much.
I believe their fans feel like that is the plan and hope it happens, but I’m skeptical that the Big East conference and schools have any time for UST

Marshall GC gets demoted (heavily) due to the fact they seem to encourage 5somes. WTF??!? Tee sheet allows booking for 5. Hard pass.

And upon further inspection, it starts out with two 5 pars on #1 and #2. Weird.

200 out of 203, can the Jimmie's get to 203? They're so close to the bottom. 1-4-1

            Jamestown Women's Soccer
213 out of 261, 0-4-0, Dead last in NSIC

            Jamestown Football
155 out of 162, I suspect the Jimmies will be near 162 after Mankato destroys them

            Jamestown Volleyball
12th out of 16 in NSIC, 80 out of 284, I suspect they will continue to fall, currently 5-3. 4-6 more wins in them, will end up 9-16 (how the mighty have fallen)

            All eyes on Mankato today.

            0 NSIC wins yet.

Yeah, I tend to agree... we deal with Tom fans a lot on the hockey side and they bring it up a lot after the Mavs beat them. UST might be private but to me they just don't feel like a "Big East" school

Really? You think it only gets worse than facing one of the biggest volleyball powerhouses in Division II?

It will all come down to if the Big East wants the "market". MSP should be desirable. And with Big East schools in Omaha, Milwaukee, Chicago and Indianapolis, UST would fit right in and wouldn't be out on an island on its own.

Oh, for sure. The season is more than one match, and CSP isn't even the highest ranked team (currently) UJ has scheduled.

10 of UJ's remaining 19 games are coming against teams either currently ranked or receiving votes.

Best of luck to UJ - they should pick up some conference wins between now and the end of October, but then they have to run the gauntlet that has worn down far better teams.

I do agree with that. Be interesting to see what happens.

Then proceeded to get swept the rest of the way. Send them back before this gets too ugly

Jamestown still searching for their first NSIC win, could be vs Crookston 1.0 on 10/4 in volleyball

                            • Jimmies have five winnable volleyball games left - I'll go high and say they win three, UMC, Mary, and Bemidji.

Kinda bummed that the streak ended for SMSU yesterday. Just goes to show how much of a slugfest the conference slate can be.
