well we regularly play 18 in 3 hours to 3:30 which is a great courseOriginally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post
Marshall GC gets demoted (heavily) due to the fact they seem to encourage 5somes. WTF??!? Tee sheet allows booking for 5. Hard pass.

And upon further inspection, it starts out with two 5 pars on #1 and #2. Weird.

Jamestown is doing better than I expected in football, though they’re still not a good team. Ranked dead last in SuperRegion III.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post
Gotta give those scrappy Jims credit for not surrendering 40 points to power teams Augustana and Minnesota St. Wait until UMD comes knocking on your door.
Volleyball is another story. Since 2019, their loss totals by season have been 6, 3, 9, 1, 2, 11, and 3. This year they already have 4 losses and are on pace for 14–16 losses by season’s end. Going back to 2005, they’ve never lost more than 14 games in a season and have never had a losing record. In their first year at D2, they’re on track for their first losing season.
Did Jamestown underestimate D2 and NSIC? Not prepared? Jamestown didn't do themselves any favors last year by only playing Minot State in any sport.

Underestimate D2? I don't think so. They are just finding out that the NSIC is a different beast altogether in a few sports.Originally posted by debergfan View PostDid Jamestown underestimate D2 and NSIC? Not prepared? Their knight in shining armor to the rescue to defend them. So yes, Jamestown underestimated NSIC and D2, otherwise this would not be the product they would put on the court. Unprepared, talent gap IMO. Playing only Minot last year was a miscue IMO.Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post

I am most certainly not here to defend James and the giant orange helmets. But they did play other NSIC schools in basketball last year. Maybe you were only referencing volleyball playing NSIC teams though?Originally posted by debergfan View Post

That’s the rule with any size group. Some twosomes are slow.Originally posted by Augieholic View Post
As long as fivesomes are keeping up or letting groups play through they shouldn't be an issue
Course specific. They clearly are ok with it there. Many aren’t. I’m not a fan of 5. Takes forever on greens, even if the group playing as 5 doesn’t think so.

If they are going off in a fivesome, they better be playing ready golf...... I hate being behind a large group that plays "the etiquette" and doesn't play ready. Heck, when I am ready, I want to go, I personally hate waiting for someone to take their seventeen practice swings, seven waggles, and then back off and realign. Just hit the d*mn ball and go find it......Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post

We were coming back from the Cities one weekend and driving by Albany Golf Club on 94. There were 7 or 8 guys and four carts at one tee box. All were standing around on the box and all had clubs with them. Probably went off as two fours and joined up once away from the clubhouse......Millsy

Do you think that the NSIC is representative of the level of all Division II institutions in all sports? Or would you argue that, specifically for volleyball, the NSIC as a whole is in a class of its own in Division II?Originally posted by debergfan View Post

I would say there is maybe 1 5some on the course on a given day and most groups are 2-3 people. Pace of play is good.Originally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post
Also means it’s an empty course, which isn’t a bad thing. 5somes at 8 minute intervals are not playing in 3 hours.
We also don't require 2somes to pair up to make a slow 4some unless very full.
