Should Jamestown be accepted into the NSIC?

Please don't use the word legitimate and Jamestown in the same paragraph. BSU blew out Jamestown. It was 41-18 with 13 minutes left in the game. It was a 22 pt loss, that is a blow out.

Volleyball 4-10 in NSIC
Men's Soccer lost 9-0 Ft Hays St, blow out
Women's Soccer 2-8-1, outscored 12-0 the last 4 games including 5-0 blow out

Jamestown is a member of the NSIC, whether we like it or not. They offer football unlike UMC and SCSU, They have a great location for north schools. Jimmies are only school who applied. I would have been fine with an uneven number of schools, but the league office found scheduling difficult. They're here to stay. Good facilities also.

I agree - maybe it's ironic coming from me, but I don't think there's any other angle to discuss this topic from.

It's kind of coming down to two extremes with no chance of finding middle ground here.

I will say - Jamestown did a lot better this fall than I thought. I think many of us can say the same.

What is your deal? I was scrolling games all afternoon and Jamestown was getting beat by 16 when Bemidji went no huddle and punched another td in with one second to go in the game. Bemidji’s team looks so much better in the second half of the year … (kind of like Northern last year) but chirping about Jamestown getting “blown out” is a little over the top. Looking back, Jamestown beat Concordia and had legitimate chances to beat both Southwest and Minot. Probably a better first year than most expected based on their GPAC record the past 5 years. I’d say they’re trending in the right direction.

You clearly didn’t watch the game and you certainly were not there…it was a blowout. I will leave it at that, but there was no moral victory for the Jimmies.

Good luck to them in the next 3 weeks. It will be interesting to see if they load up on portal guys, their facilities look nice online, I’d think that will get some guys’ attention

I didn’t expect Jamestown to make a big splash ands I don’t pay attention to all sports, so I do find his posts interesting. It’s interesting to see how the transition is going. Also something to watch, to see which of their teams make a jump sooner than others

Jamestown Jimmies don’t like facts.

The crown jewel of their department is at the bottom of the conference. This is the transfer portal era. How many kids will stick around after they finish 1-10?

I still think they might wow some guys with facilities and playing time. The portal might end up as a positive while trying to build a legit NSIC squad (maybe not a contender, but competitive). If they had to build on HS guys only, the build would take longer

Hot take: Have the North Dakota NAIA schools go D2. Bismarck State, Dickenson State, Mayville State, Valley City State could join Jamestown, Mary and Minot. and UMC (restart football). That is eight teams and would sure cut down on the travel. Anyone else want to volunteer to join?

It feels like a much more accessible campus. Outside of local/regional recruiting (which I've been well informed here over the past two years that it is not a good way to recruit to build a program), I'd say a minimum of 80% of other recruits will come to campus through air travel. The mileage difference from FSD to Marshall and from FAR to Jamestown is negligible, but I think I would much rather travel the ~100 miles on 80 mph I-29 than getting stuck behind slow-moving traffic and going through small towns on two-lane MN-23. I also think in terms of nationwide recruiting, being a Directional U can hold us back.

If I'm understanding this correctly - Jamestown has the upper hand over Marshall because they have a higher speed limit on one highway and don't have a direction in the school's name?

I might not be the biggest advocate for Marshall - but their location beats Jamestown on several key metrics. Not to mention SMSU wins on tuition by a longshot.

It's probably a moot point given we both only won a single game this year in football - but across all sports, it's going to take a lot for the Jims to catch up to SMSU.
