Perfect(even though I know we are at our 24 conference limit in D2)Last edited by NSU4LIFE; 10-29-2025, 12:58 PM.

Probably. But in that scenario where the NAIA ends up folding and all those schools want into D2, I can see the NCAA trying to accommodate the NAIA conferences. That rule requiring an invite by an existing conference doesn't scale up.Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post
If D2 is the eventual plan for those schools, that's basically what would have to happen.

Very possible. The 24 conference rule would also need to be adressed.Originally posted by njmav1 View Post

Dakota State would love to. Gets them out of going to Idaho and Montana.Originally posted by njmav1 View PostSo who takes Mankato's place? Dakota State? Morningside?
Morningside coaches told me several years ago when the Mavs were practicing there that they were not interested. I suppose that could change.

Good to know, thanks. That might have been misinformation from me by mistake (though to be fair, it is still listed here on the forums on the basketball side under the South Central region)Originally posted by Inkblot View Post
Haven't been since the Heartland Conference folded in 2019.

Ha - love it. I remember when they were the darling of Minnesota because they couldn't get past St. Thomas. Cadets haven't won the big one since moving up, maybe making H-Town hesitant? Likely not, but notable.Originally posted by WSUWarriorFan View Post
Word on the street is they are waiting for Hermantown to move up to AA in hockey first.

When the NCC schools moved to FCS, there stated reason was D2 was getting watered down by less competitive schools moving to D2. If NAIA folds and its masses accepted into D2 once again the watered down effect takes place. Augustana doesn't want to play Peru St. or Mt Marty. Either there would have to be a new classification D2A and D2B or move to FCS, Choices would have to be made. Was not disparaging two previously mentioned schools, they would be financially challenged going D2.

Complaining about losing to private schools then getting spanked by East Grand Forks the following year was peak comedy.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View Post
