Should Jamestown be accepted into the NSIC?

Gotta be a bit of a blow to the almighty Summit to lose Denver Men's Soccer - the only team to ever come close to sniffing a championship.

Just my opinion, but Denver won't be the only one to leave the Summit. St Thomas will be looking as the Summit is just a layover. Oral Roberts left once before. And I think NDSU and SDSU will jump at the first opportunity to go FBS.

When the NCC schools moved to FCS, there stated reason was D2 was getting watered down by less competitive schools moving to D2. If NAIA folds and its masses accepted into D2 once again the watered down effect takes place. Augustana doesn't want to play Peru St. or Mt Marty. Either there would have to be a new classification D2A and D2B or move to FCS, Choices would have to be made. Was not disparaging two previously mentioned schools, they would be financially challenged going D2.

That's fair....I do think there will be an extra division created at some point, especially if something happens with the NAIA that brings in a mass influx.

Agree completely. It may not be that the Summit even adds teams as much as they might merge with another conference after defections. Which are certainly coming.

Luverne almost did 'em in in 2017 - that would have been a landscape shifter. I wanted that to happen so bad.

I agree. I don't know how NDSU fans feel, but I've heard similar from SDSU. I asked around a bit today and heard it's about a 50/50 split between them.

I think those two would have a lot to gain - but where/how/when, etc. seems like a pretty complex situation (from what I've been told).

I have a feeling that they're waiting/hoping for the Mountain West. But what if Conference USA or the AAC come calling?

Yeah - Mountain West was the one that was brought up in my conversation today. I kinda have to imagine they take the offer from CSUA or AAC though, no? I mean, I can't imagine that's an easy offer to come by, maybe they just "go FBS and figure the rest out later?"

It would be kinda interesting if the six Dakota/Montana schools could start their own conference, however they'd need two more and there aren't any real candidates given that would make geographic sense (besides maybe Idaho, but even in this hypothetical I think that's a bit of a stretch).

I'm with you. If CUSA extends an invite, they might hem and haw but ultimately join. If AAC comes calling, I think they jump on that in a heartbeat. The AAC has a history (going back to the old Big East) of being poached by the power conferences.

Ha - love it. I remember when they were the darling of Minnesota because they couldn't get past St. Thomas. Cadets haven't won the big one since moving up, maybe making H-Town hesitant? Likely not, but notable.

I think the MSHSL need to go to what North Dakota does. For boys sports, they only count the male population at a school, for girls sports, they only count the female population.

I have heard that the next classification cycle in MN (two years) will be going to a five year average enrollment rather than current enrollment. With the way enrollment ebbs and flows, probably a better way to do it. Also, the schools will supposedly know they classification sooner in the process.

How is Minneapolis HS, Single A in Boys Hockey? Skill wise - yes but should be AAAA in reality.

Probably some rule for co-op programs? Kinda hard to combine that many schools and still compete.

I don't know the rules that well - I just do my civic duty and root against Edina every year and hope Luverne is good enough to go to State.

I cheer for Section 1, outside of the Lakeville. No offense to them but they arren't a true Section 1 team in my opinion. Section 1 usually doesn't do to well so I end up rooting for the northern schools. Ive been on the wait list for season AA passes for 15 years now and am hoping to get tickets one of these years.

I'd be shocked if Jamestown can keep the two colorado kids or qb.

The QB will be the one to watch.....originally a UND commit. I don't think he jumps back up that high, but could try to go to a more traditional NSIC power. Not sure why, but BSU was the first place I thought of.

HS teammates with SMSU's Parker Knutson, so hopefully they don't become a package deal somewhere....

Section 3A doesn't have much to root for haha - part of the problem we have is that the top talent all goes to play AAA - or moves to the suburbs.

Looked like Marshall was primed to build something, then Luverne - but neither have done a whole lot on a state level.

Ironically I'm sure I'll see Fairmont's Carsen Musser tonight though... darn Tommies.
