Men's soccer and volleyball are going to likely be cut. I'm sure it sucks for those athletes, but dropping sports on a move isn't exactly uncommon.

I don't know how schollys work, but you do have a point about the playoff ban.

UMary cut mens soccer 5 or 6 years ago, they played in the GNAC. I can see this happening to Jamestown as there are no d2 conferences that sponsor mens soccer around the Dakotas.

I heard tonight that Dickinson State is going to join the NAIA Frontier Conference tomorrow. The question is what will happen to the remaining North Star teams? Dakota State wants to go D2.

Postseason ban that every school has gone through. Why would Jamestown be different?

I wasn't sure if that applied to schools already in the NCAA or all schools. Though with the JMU debacle, I wouldn't rule out the NCAA flipping on that rule at some point in the near future. They did with NIL and transfer rules. JMU is the latest and biggest profile but there's been a lot of similar situations the past few years.

They should absolutely be up front with the athletes. My guess is they are in denial about the process, just like a lot of schools are. Or they already have told them.

It's North Dakota though, that whole state is in denial.

Jamestown's volleyball program has been successful, allegedly due to their use of NAIA rules that allow them to offer "exceptions" for scholarships. Under these rules, if a scholarship athlete maintains a GPA exceeding 3.0, half of their scholarship value does not count towards the overall scholarship limit. This system presents a significant advantage for Jamestown compared to NCAA Division II programs, which do not offer similar scholarship flexibility. Will not be able to offer as many full rides. You can also compare the transfers on their team from NCAA to NAIA to see how much they improved.

You're missing the point, Jamestown is offering athletic scholarships but they're not counting towards the 8 because of their GPA.

But good luck telling volleyball no post-season for 5 years and let us know where men's volleyball and men's soccer will be playing in 2 years, should rename it "dodge" ball for all the dodging.

That’s the worry going to the mighty NSIC, we will need to cut scholarships but should have more than the bottom feeders. Dakota State will struggle with that when they come over.

Volleyball probably has the biggest upside for joining the NSIC. They do spring practice against NSIC teams already, fwiw. Guess it matters as much as NSIC teams practicing against the Summit teams.

I will legitimately be curious to see where they land.
