When we were out in NYC/New Jersey a couple of weeks ago, now that was some good pizza, even at the airport. The wife said we were getting some Pizza Hut take out tonight, and while I like it, everything pales in comparison, now.... Unless I can get up to Bemidji and have some Dave's Pizza.
    Dave's is awesome

As for Pizza Ranch, I've only been to Luverne once - but I took a stroll through downtown and the air smelled like pizza. I kinda dug it. The idea of catching a movie and walking next door to grab a buffet plate sounded like a fun night to me.

The one in Redwood was always decent. There aren't many other options in town anymore, so it's usually pretty busy nowadays. I spent a week working there and they'd deliver it to me every day. It was kinda neat.
Windom still has a Godfathers and it is awesome

Also they had a "Chocolate Peanut Butter Temptation" dessert that was to die for. It was a sad day when the owners retired and they closed.

They brought Valentinos back to town a couple years ago, but it's only a take-out place. That's not the same.

I like Pizza Ranch, but haven't been there for over six years. My wife was at Pizza Ranch when she got the phone call that her mother had passed away unexpectedly, so she's got some bad memories associated with the place. We haven't been back since.

Dareo's on south Minnesota Ave has a pizza buffet that's pretty good. They have a "baked potato pizza" that is worth the price of admission.
In law school there was the Original Valentinos in Lincoln right across from the law school and dental school on 33rd street. It was just awesome. and old decor etc. Not there anymore - tragedy!

We would eat there for lunch about once a week (most days it was a cold turkey and cheese or ham and cheese sandwich from home --- we were honestly broke all of us). Once in a while when in Sioux Falls i will hit up Valentino's just for the nostalga. not the same but solid. but been a few years even if still around

Godfathers also has a great buffett. Miss it in Marshall.

pregame meal for me was a couple of cold sanwiches my mom packed. once in awhile, maybe a quick burger at the local cafe which was very good.

Walk in and order a "pie" to go and they'll make it fresh. Have a slice while you're waiting or some garlic knots.
we were in NYC for 9 days. Every night at midnight or so as we were going back to the place we would get a piece or two pf pizza from a little hole in the wall in the building. literally a window with a pizza oven and a fridge for drinks. The whole thing was maybe 8 by 10 feet...

the pizza was $1.50 a slice !!! That was 2018, but still. and it was awesome.

Having lived in NYC for 5 years from 81' thru 85' I ate many a slice of pizza. They were all cheese only, they didn't put frilly topping on them and claimed the water made their pies special. They were great and on the greasy side. The best was from little shops in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. I wonder if things have changed.

I ate there in 1990 with the guys in my band while we were on a road trip. If I remember correctly, there was an arcade nearby that we went in afterwards and spent some quarters.

We drove past Lange's in Pipestone Saturday. Used to stop there on the way back from games. Sad that it isn't open anymore.

The last time I was there was on the way back from a big win- either USF or Augie- and we stopped. Waitress talked us into celebrating with a steak after I planned on a beef commercial. Pie is always a winner.

Speaking of pie- ate at Pete's Grill in Hector on Monday. Four people next to me were thinking about ordering it. Told them they couldn't go wrong. They were from out of town but stopped because McCormick's in Hutch was closed. They were really happy about the meal AND the pie. Turned out they were friends with one of my coaching buddies. Small world.

PS: Pete's has been run by the Petersen sisters for 43 years.

I feel terrible about it, but I kinda miss Tony’s. It was a solid frozen pizza

Jacks Natural Rising Crust Cheese was my staple growing up. Now its California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken. Hy Vee in Winona used to carry Peps and 7th Avenue which are really good but stopped carrying them a while ago.
