Taking a look at how the coaches' vote compares to the mathematical rankings (QRF, PageStat). Some conflicts, I guess.

In relevant news I did some homework and calculated the NSIC All Sports Award standings through Winter sports.

I thought it would be interesting to see where Jamestown sits in the "True" standings but also to see how they line up if you compare efficiency.
I measured this by taking the amount of points earned divided by the amount of points possible, this sort of levels the playing field for schools who don't sponsor the full 18 NSIC Sponsored sports.

The findings are about what we expected if not worse.

Hibbing beat Dodge County 4-1. Dodge County stuck around in this one until Hibbing punch two quick ones in at the end of the second. Dodge County had what will be the goal of the tournament from Nolan Steele with a between the legs tally.

I work with someone who has a kid on Cathedral, transferred in from Monticello this year. Couldn't get by Cathedral at Monticello. If you cant beat'em join'em i guess.

Just gotta say, it is refreshing watching a hockey game and not having the advertising change constantly on the boards.

Mankato West tried to make a game of it with Delano, tied at 2 going into the third. But Delano poured it on in the third for a 6-2 win.

I was surprised the Scarlets hung with Delano for that long. 3A has never won a game at the X, though Lou Verne has won a couple over at Mariucci.

Marshall was there 13 years ago. You'd think spending all that money on a barn would have helped but they've been quite terrible ever since.

Fun 3A hockey fact(s): Terry Steinbach was (is?) New Ulm's career goals leader. New Ulm also has the only NHL draft pick in 3A - Jamie Hoffman, who would choose the MLB instead.

After a scoreless first period in the late game last night, Warroad eventually wore down Northern Lakes in route to a 5-0 victory.

Gotta say, this tournament is more fun to watch for me this year than others. My son played on the 2024-25 14U USA Hockey National Champions team, the Blue Ox, with kids that are playing for Warroad and Moorhead.
