Yup... their fanbase has been in meltdown mode since last night. They didn't win a single thing of note during their CCHA tenure.

    • With Dartmouth beating Princeton, Augie's pathway to the Denny is in the hands of UCONN. Unfortunately losing to Merrimack in the second.

Michigan also has to beat Ohio State.

Based on my Twitter notifications - yes. Maybe it's just the same two guys with a million different burners, or bots.

          • UCONN falls to Merrimack - meaning Augie's season is over.

Just a singular fan, they split their time between the Tommies and Jimmies.

They used the excuse of "winter break" and then winter break ended and the attendance didn't improve lol

                  • The continued shunning of the Mavericks by the NCHC has become the equivalent of the "why did the chicken cross the road" joke. It'll go on forever. Clearly they belong, but someone or something just doesn't accept it.

My theory is that the NCHC wants D1 members. Yes, there are two D2 (SCSU and UMD) and D3 Colorado College. But CC was a founding member because Denver was taking them along. And Duluth is a top tier program. St Cloud wasn't invited until Notre Dame decided to go to Hockey East.

                      • Iowa and Nebraska set to play in the sweet 16. Corn supremacy to the winner.

                        • I had no idea Augie had enough money to keep a hockey coach from bolting to the Gophers. They must have some serious boosters.

Having said that, I am amazed the Summit doesn't want them given SDSU and NDSU will both eventually leave and so will St. Thomas. 3 less teams with no new ones will be a challenge for the Summit

I actually saw a thread on Facebook where Goofer fans were blaming Governor Walz, license tabs, taxes, the new flag, and whatever else they could. Maybe it just comes down to the Goofer job isn't what it used to be. Coyle has tried to turn the U into a football/basketball school, and hockey has been pushed aside.

USD and SDSU want nothing to do with Augustana and neither of those two are leaving the Summit anytime soon.

Augie can't afford the DI move now that they went all-in on hockey. I'm not a big basketball fan so I think it was the right move, personally - I'm sure most won't agree though.
