If 10 is needed to form a new conference then we will take Northern. That gets the new conference to 10, the NSIC would sit at 6 current with Dakota State gets you to 7 with 6 football playing. Add Valley City State, and Dickinson State to bolster the numbers.

We can wait 5 years for AQ status. With the added free slots for scheduling the new conference can schedule NSIC, MIAA, RMAC, GLVC, GLIAC, GSC, GAC and Independent schools to fill the 2 games out and pump up some SOS and In-Region Games for At-Large spots. 9 Conference games in football, 18 for Olympics. That's perfect.

As in Hemorrhaging members you mean, Denver? The league lost Western Illinois in 2023 but that really isn't a loss.

The Summit needs Athletic Departments that sponsor a ton of sports, Augustana and Minnesota State help fill those sports that are a little thin. Augustana better than MSU with their Soccer and Men's Tennis programs.

They didn't before, why would they now?

They may have the sports, but the costs aren't the same. It's possible that some sports are cut to move up. Plus Augustana is now a hockey school and I assume they will do what is best for that sport.

They've lost more than that if you go back just a little further - and keep adding D1 equivalents of VCSU or Jamestown to cover.

Hopefully NDSU and SDSU can ditch them for a real conference at some point and ORU can find something in their geographic region with good baseball.

That would open a lane for Augie and MSU - take St. Cloud with too, their men's soccer team will be the biggest addition the Summit could hope for lol

Yup. The team is already pretty popular - average attendance is only slightly less than SDSU basketball.

Helps that hockey is the fastest growing youth sport in South Dakota and communities are finally taking it seriously. Been a lot of fun to watch.

If Mankato was serious about moving up they would be pursuing the open spot in the Missouri Valley with the loss of NDSU. Augie is at least a fit for football in the pioneer league academically.

Being in the Summit gives you immediate access to the MVFC as of 2 years ago. St. Thomas has opted for Non-Scholly football for now.

No such thing. Jamestown is bound for the Big Ten.

The conference has to keep it national championship streak alive, nobody better to do it then the Jimmies.

Their club hockey team has as many natties as the entire history of the Big10 Conference. Money well spent.
