I don't know why, but I have always been a fan of contrast. If you wear a dark top, you wear a light bottom, and vice versa. Must be the old school in me.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View PostI can't seem to find a photo - but I believe we have a uniform combo of gold helmets, brown top, and brown bottom with matching gold accents.
That one is my favorite, but I don't think it gets worn often. I just think it's the cleanest look, no breaks in the color scheme, and the brown tone just felt professional to me.
The black unis that were debuted last season weren't awful, but I prefer school colors over blacks, whites, and especially grays (yuck).
And I have never been a fan of colors that are not part of your school scheme. Black is overdone, but I realize today's players like it. I also didn't like it when BSU had a basketball coach who threw blue uniforms into the rotation (Jeff Guiot). And now some of the BSU programs are throwing gold jerseys into the mix, um, no, not a fan.
Now, get off my lawn!!!!Millsy

I do like the Winona States all black ones and I believe several years ago they had gray pants for a year or two. If I had my way they would go all black for night home games and all purple for the rest. One tops with purple pants for away games.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

Those athletes don't deserve to be treated like that...Originally posted by Millsy View PostI also didn't like it when BSU had a basketball coach who threw blue uniforms into the rotation (Jeff Guiot). And now some of the BSU programs are throwing gold jerseys into the mix, um, no, not a fan.

Blue like lake blue or Babe blue? I mean, I can kinda get both on a one-off from a marketing perspective but it's not like you're really buying or selling those jerseys either.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

As for gold, is it like a Mankato "gold" (aka yellow) or gold like Bemidji's secondary color (more of a tan, I guess you could call that though)?

Basketball got grays at the same time....also hideous. Other programs may have as well.I'm guessing it had to do with pricing, I'm pretty sure gray ones were considerably cheaper than brown ones. But still, considering how they've ponied (ha) to get the brown jerseys in years since, I'm guessing the alumni and donor base spoke loudly about the grays enough that I don't think we'll ever see that again.Originally posted by SW_Mustang View Post
Those grays were horrendous. To be honest, I thought I'd like them when they were first announced - our uniforms before then were starting to show a lot of age. But once I saw them on the field I was completely out.

Probably closer to lake blue. It really looked like the Timberwolves colors, white with blue and green accents, and they also had an all blue uniform with white and green accents.Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post

Here is one of the years with the head shots for the roster: https://bsubeavers.com/sports/mens-b...roster/2007-08
The gold/tan is hard to explain. It isn't Mankato or Goofer gold, it isn't Vegas gold, it isn't really tan, either. And the fact that it doesn't look like the same color across programs.....

Women's hockey only wears them on special occasions, so I am okay with that.

Basketball has been on such a tear lately with unis that I guess I forgot they even had them - maybe they weren't quite as memorable because they weren't paired with gold helmets.Originally posted by Stanger86 View Post

You're probably spot on - I know the black unis were crowdfunded, I think I gave $10 or something towards them.
The football grays still exist... I see them every now and again. Usually for things like scout team and spring practice. So at least there's a silver lining - we're not ruining our good uniforms before the game starts.

Yeah that "gold" looks like they are using the color of the Beaver.....I don't hate it, but some colors like that don't transfer as well on certain fabrics so it looks inconsistent.Originally posted by Millsy View Post

I'm surprised I do not remember that blue trim on the basketball jerseys at all. That's definitely interesting.

I've always liked Augie's color scheme btw. Cool primary logo too.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View PostAugie and many other schools across this great land have yellow in their uniforms and cal it gold, "baloney" yellow is yellow. Nothing to ashamed of.
I have a hockey puck with the throwback logo on it, very reminiscent of the Ole statue on campus.

Mustangs uniforms have true gold colors.
Never wish summer away, but looking forward to NSIC football. I try to watch as many games as possible.
