I speak for myself, I have nothing to do with MSU at this point other than paying for tickets and the occasional small donation. Your projections of being bullied or "pushed out" by MSU is in a world of fantasy. If you had read my post with any semblance of attention you would understand that I stated I have nothing against SMSU, but rather it's fans on here who seem to be happy Jamestown is in the conference.

Learned behavior usually comes from somewhere....it would not shock me if similar comments have been made around the MSU campus.

          • What's funny to me about this conversation is that SMSU will be the third largest school in the NSIC once they pass St. Cloud - trailing only Duluth and MSU.

            • Just wanted to point out the records of the scrubs in the NCC, UMD came in at the end after hanging out in the NSIC. Augustana 137–291–6 Minnesota State Mankato 175–199–4 Minnesota Duluth 39–10 St. Cloud State 98–114

That's a hell of an inferiority complex you got there Stranger.

That's nice, now look up the fact that in the 34 years of D2 championships between 1973 and the end of the NCC there were 6 champs and 5 runner-ups. The NCC was represented in nearly 1/3 of all Championships in that span.

That conference was one of the toughest conferences D2 had ever seen. It proved itself right away in 2008 when we walked in to the NSIC and the 4 teams went a combined 33-7 after posting a 9-32 record in the NCC the year prior. Including Duluth winning it all.

You can tag on the NCC schools for poor records in that conference, that's fine. However the second they walked into this conference we grabbed the reigns and never looked back. Only twice in 17 years has someone outside of the NCC 4 won the football title outright. One being Sioux Falls who came in after us.

                    Good for you.

I don't think I have ever claimed that Mankato sucks. Where I have always taken issue is the "look at us" holier-than-thou attitude from the university and most of its fans. Since you're so much better than the slums of the NSIC, why doesn't the department and its donors put its money where its mouth is and move up to Division I. I keep hearing how Mankato has more in common with NDSU, SDSU and the like than it does with Sisters of the Poor in Marshall, yet there's no initiative to go out and prove it.

                    • I wonder if the Mountain West's NDSU is as obsessed with the NCC as this board is almost 20 years later.

If not - it might be time to let 'er go.

As for the D1 transition, I am there with you. I hope we do. Others on here not so much, but this is well documented at this point.

Not sure where you are getting that the university has a "look at us" or "holier-than-thou" attitude? Your experience is your own so you will have to explain where the university comes into play here. As for the fans, likely myself and a select few others still speaking on this topic it's just the flip of the coin to your "everyone is welcome, we just need anything that moves to join" mentality.

You keep disparaging your own school, when all we are trying to do is show you the proof in the pudding that the NSIC did not need Jamestown.

soon enough you all be battling it out for the coveted confidence pool championship and taking in Ron Swanson quotes. We got D1 games coming in about a month now.

Going to be an odd football season given I'm joining the MSU Blue Line Club this year - but the goal is to make it over to Winona this season if I'm able. Would love to see a Warriors game at home.

I see the Johnnies are taking on the St. Ole's at TCO this year - that looks fun too.

Its a unique experience, feel like a sardine in there for the big games. Homecoming this year is against Mankato which means you might want to get in line now.

I saw that online. Interesting to have a night game outside in mid-November, but maybe the wind will go down after sunset.
