If this is the case, then I believe Wayne holds some real power in this discussion. Do they want the ease of scheduling that comes with even members? Is another trip to ND a dealbreaker? I would prefer to not lose current members of the conference, but it would seem the NSIC is intent on getting to an even number. Hopefully NSIC leadership has a good feel for what each school wants from the conference short and long term. As has been mentioned, if the NSIC adds Jamestown, then loses another member it becomes REALLY tough to find another dancing partner.

Driving a little further is far less an issue when you’re going south, rather than through the blizzards of the Dako…North and South Dakota. (I hate when people call it Minny, we don’t, haha…so I get it)

Going to Oklahoma in January/February for winter sports is far more desirable. I’d be very concerned if I were the NSIC officials regarding Wayne.

Your point still stands and this wouldn't apply to football, but Wayne would actually need to be ok traveling to Arkansas-Fort Smith, which is joining the MIAA next year.

I'm good with you using the other logo..as it makes it easier to recognize one user from the next..instead of having the same logo 5x on here with users.

I'll stick with my current logo, although this was used when I was an undergrad.

I think there is a strong thought SCSU is gonna try and Go D1 in everything to stem enrollment hemoraging.

I think Augie gettting D1 hockey means they are NOT leaving - will be happy in the NSIC now.

I think Mankato and UMD both go to the Summit - once Jamestown and / or Dakota State join. The realiity is Manakto and UMD feel they are better than Jamestown, etc. and so if they leave it might be better overall for the league.

And Crookston is leaving - just a matter of time.

They get ice storms, severe thunderstorms, tornados and lots more traffic. Not as much interstate travel. Minnesota get just as many blizzards and it snow more. The ethos of people is different the farther south you go.

                  People call Minnesota "Minny"? Haha

Winters up in these parts are very much overblown for the most part. Some years are worse than others, of course, but it's not like it is unbearable for six straight months.

If you hate cold though, yeah, you won't like it up here.

I think the appeal (if there actually is any) for Winona or Duluth or Concordia-St Paul or Wayne...might be that getting those kids from bigger states could be a little easier when you play games in those parts of the country.

Idk how the bylaws are written or have any true guesses or feelings on this whole thing, but I'd be curious if at "The Vote" if someone will say "If Jamestown is in, we are out". Obviously they'd have to have a plan already. Would they say anything even if their stance was such?

There will always be more that ADs and Presidents know and discuss than we'll ever know. But, if I had to give a guess, I'd say they have a pretty good idea what the future is going to look like.

15ish or so years ago, I was In Louisville for a snow event in early December. People were freaking out 2 days prior, news reporters in store parking lots, schools closed before the first flake fell…we thought it was crazy. Fast forward to now, I feel like that’s how people around here act for upcoming storms. We’ve gotten weaker

                    • At what point do they look at what have the other NAIA additions from North Dakota brought to the table for the conference? Probably not right to hold it against Jamestown, but it’s hard to make an argument that Mary and Minot have added value to the league. I don’t know if this was already brought up at all, but I feel like it has to be something they look at and evaluate.

Minot and Mary, though not super competitive across the board, have had spots where they added value/were competitive. I have a hard time seeing where Jamestown is going to makenthat happen (as is) though itnisnt out of the question to find a place.

Yes, they do. But it would be silly to think that winter travel is not easier in that area of the country than it is in the upper Midwest. It also opens recruiting further south, which is a great benefit. The ethos of people is different everywhere…

Im not trying to boot Wayne by any means, but I could easily see why they’d leave (if that was to ever become the reality). The MIAA would be a huge step up, especially once the NSIC weakens itself.

Ugh, yes. Lots of national people call it Minny. Whatever though, we all know we don’t matter in the middle anyway!

I had never heard that before.

Whenever other regions bash on the upper midwest I just like to reassure them that yes, it is awful up here...you definitely shouldnt visit. Ha
