Some football field without a track have a wide area of turf between the stands and field like USF. MSU is really close to stands, Augie's is pretty close on the home side/

Please accept two likes, that gave me a good laugh.

The old Bemidji track was unique. Part of me wishes that would have stayed, but I completely understand the update.

Cutting costs is the name of the game at Division II.

I've been to a lot of stadiums. I've never seen a track like that one. One side in front of the stands, one side behind the stands.

To be fair, the Division II national championship is held in a Texas high school stadium...

Sharing fields/facilities with the local high school is commonplace across the NSIC. BSU, SMSU, UMary are just a few football programs that share facilities. If I remember correctly, the poking fun of Swisher Field had more with it being off-campus, with no permanent signage, and in a wind tunnel.

It was mostly the fact that it was the high schools facility...

In these parts, every place is a "wind tunnel"

When the Mavs were in the NCC, WNAX 570 had a half hour radio show on Saturday mornings where they would predict games. They always referred to the Blake as the "wind tunnel".

Fair enough and it would not look out of place at the NSIC level. I remember Dakota State had released a rendering of a new stadium they are looking to build that was really impressive. Is that still a go?

Remember listening to that show with Steve Imming and 2 other guys, Having been to the Blake many times up on the bluff it was windy at times, but no worse than Howard Wood in SF. One Saturday a NW wind was blowing through HW at 40mph and NFL great Adam Vinatieri who played for SDSU on a kickoff with the wind behind his back sailed a ball all the way out of the stadium.

Wayne High School uses Wayne State's field........(they just don't have any markings on it)

I don’t necessarily love the HS logo on the field either. SMSU has the same thing at “Old Mattke”, but thankfully that’s not a field used regularly for games. Who knows, maybe having both programs recognized was a stipulation by the donor when the money was donated for the stadium renovations.

Same deal with Sioux Falls Christian HS using the Bob.

I have no problem with shared football fields. They are huge investments in resources for something that is used 6-7 times per season (I know practices happen more often, but you don't need seating for those.) It just makes fiscal sense, regardless of the budget of the school.

NAIA schools have more flexibility with their scholarship packages. For example, NAIA schools can offer scholarships that do not count against the 8 scholarship limit due to the exemptions. This would give them a significant advantage over NCAA schools, which are limited to offering 8 scholarships per team and this advantage will disappear.

If the authors had done any actual research, they would have asked about future of men's volleyball and soccer, including their JV teams, instead of writing propaganda.
Westmont is also moving up to NCAA from NAIA, but they will not be eligible to participate in Division II national postseason competition during the three-year transition process. In an article, Peterson said that the university is waiting on the NCAA to decide whether or not UJ will have to sit out the postseason for a period of time, or if they can immediately be eligible for postseason play. Why would Jamestown be any different than Westmont? Jamestown will be eligible for NSIC just as Westmont is for their conference. Did the author do any research? Did the author ask about the Valley City-Jamestown football game? I hope coaches tell anyone being recruited by Jamestown, they won't be eligible for the NCAA tournament for 3 years.
If I had to guess, it would be because Jamestown's NAIA conference has already voted to kick them out, basically leaving them without a home. I would have to look, but when the MIAC booted St. Thomas and they moved to D-I, I think the NCAA waived the transition period there as well?

My dad ran track at BSU for two years. He always laughed because runners would coast in practice when they went behind the stands and out of the sight of the coaches.
