Agreed. I was a surprised how much smaller they were. Certainly have some work to do.Originally posted by Thunder View PostI’m not sure where SMSU goes from here. They just didn’t look physically like they were in the same league as most of the rest of the NSIC. In today’s. college football, teams can rebuild quickly, but SMSU has a long way to go.

Those are some of the words I used about Northern after losing to Augie 41-7. Look at the Wolves now!Originally posted by Thunder View PostI’m not sure where SMSU goes from here. hard to argue otherwise. We ran the ball well last year. 3 of 5 linemen return and we cant run. We have a ways to go for sureOriginally posted by Thunder View PostI’m not sure where SMSU goes from here. we dont have a QB and can't run the ball. other than that things are fine.
I am at a loss. I have watched every game since 1990 with passion and this is the worst team we have had other than maybe under Strashiem. It is just a disaster right now. Need a total reboot and patience. Obvioulsy Scott can coach but we have no qb and not enough money to apparently go buy one which seems amazing considering the portal and all the players looking to go play aelsewhere.
On the positibe we played hard tonight. I think the coaches coached hard too , but it is a ways to go. plain and simple.most diappointing is the offensive line. We cant run. no words and I can't fathom it but it is not working.
I'll be at Moorhead next week I think so maybe I will be a good luck charm.

I will say this for SMSU, I agree they seemed to play hard. And things didn’t get chippy like they used to with the Crookston teams that never won any games. SMSU’s success always revolved around have a really good QB. If they can figure that out they can get back to being competitive.

I've liked some of our individual efforts from guys like Maher and Honchstetter this year. But MrMustang is right - can't run if we don't have an OL.
Just as long as we're playing hard. These kids didn't ask to be in this situation. I don't like moral victories, but I can't be upset if they're giving it 100%

What do you mean? That they were supposed to have 26 this year but only have 22 --- or that we have 26 and next year will be 24? provide som context as I am genuinely curious.Originally posted by TJE_ View Post
Just heard today that SMSU is down several scholarships. That certainly makes things tough.

I am at a loss on the running game. I can't figure out why we have regressed so much. we ran the ball well in Scott's first 2 years!!! Sherwood, Austin, etc. Yes new runner, but Hochstetter runs hard and is ok. we should not be this bad at running. it is inexplainable - the dropoffOriginally posted by SW_Mustang View PostI've liked some of our individual efforts from guys like Maher and Honchstetter this year. Defense has played hard, but they are just on the field way too much ! and we always give up a defenseive td like a pick 6 or fumble so that puts even more pressure on the defense. Hard to fathom all thisOriginally posted by SW_Mustang View PostI've liked some of our individual efforts from guys like Maher and Honchstetter this year. Just that they have less than the 36. I thought (mistakenly) that all the Minnesota schools were fully funded.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post

Not sure. I kept hearing how Minnesota schools had an advantage over SD schools because they received state funding for scholarships and SD schools can’t. Has to be privately raised every year. Northern up until a couple years ago were down a few scholarships but as of right now are fully fundedOriginally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post
Maybe 2 of them are?

It took us 50 years just to change the carpet in Charter Hall.
