  • 2025 Roster Look-Ahead

With the spring games concluding around the conference, we’re starting to get a good look at roster previews on each team. Some teams seem to have the QB position set - while others appear to head into summer with vacillated battles (below). Based on what we’ve seen thus far, I’d be curious to get some perspective and thoughts from other eyes around the conference. Looking forward to another great year of NSIC Football!

    Battles:
    Mankato: Mitchell Thompson, Max Sims
Wayne State: Bennett Dannenbring, Brady McGill
    SMSU: Wyatt Oak, Julian Viramontes
    CSP: Jackson Compton, Reed Styer
Mary: Sofian Massoud, Jordan Polo Solomans

    Seemingly Solidified:
    Augustana: Gunner Hensley
    MSU Moorehead: Jack Strand
    UMD: Kyle Walljasper
    Sioux Falls: Camden Dean
    Northern State: Daniel Britt
    Winona State: Jackson Flottmeyer
    Bemidji State: Connor Carver
    Minot State: Carson Chrisman
    Jamestown: Nick Martinez

I wouldn't be surprised if Todd went with a two QB system as he has done in the past with the Mavs.

Augustana coach Olszewski is 1 quarterback man and Gunnar Hensley is his QB. With 4 other QB's and 1 more coming in this fall, I'm curious whom will be #2.

The qb battle at SMSU is betweeen Viramontes and Redshirt Freshman Drew Klunder who playd one game and broke his hand. Wyatt Oak is in 3rd lace.

This is what I've heard as well.

QB2 could be interesting in Duluth as well. Eggert has held that role but Wiese brought in a couple good recruits. I could see Eggert holding to the QB2 role and next year being up for grabs as UMD likes to have their QB be the guy for 3-4 years.

I can 100% see this being the case. From the limited amount I’ve heard, it sounds like it will. Sims provides a little better passing, Thompson isn’t as skilled in that department. Both can move it with their legs.

It’s fun to start thinking about the fall, but I’m ready to enjoy spring and summer before the next tour of amazing NSIC towns and stadiums begins.

i’m not certain that Bemidji is settled on QB1 yet. Carver is the obvious choice for a list like this, but he has competition. I believe that contest is yet to be settled before August 28th

Northern is actively looking for someone to transfer in and take over for Britt. He may be the starter but the new OC is not sold on him.

For what it's worth, I've heard he is happy with Britt but is still actively looking for a transfer in because he would like to bolster the QB room. Either way I think it is accurate to say NSU is in the market for a summer transfer QB, and probably a few others as well.

The weather is getting nice, and the birds are chirping. Heard one little birdie chirp that Sims’ arm is looking very impressive so far. Not surprising, but positive news.
