  • The guy that did it is seriously mentally disabled, he was living in a nearby group home. Sad, but thankfully no one was killed.

    • Trey Vaval scored a 128-yard touchdown today for Winnipeg.
      That's right, 128 yards.

      • Glen and Becky Taylor Stadium
        Taylor Family Field

Thielen Foundation was involved as well and will be the namesake of the main entrance gate

        • UNRL, Thielen Foundation, ISG, Taylor Corp and Taylor Foundation - among a handful of private donors are kicking this off.

Field will be named after Taylor and his family, field entrance to be named after Thielen. Tailgate area to be named after ISG.

Edit: Mav Man beat me to it.

          • The Medical Center is news to me. It was a short presentation. They made mention of eSports (which is a thing only I care about, I know) - but didn't go into a lot of specifics on anything.

Gonna drop my drop in the bucket - won't be much but this is pretty exciting.

            • So groundbreaking in 2027, opening in 2029....what will they do in the meantime? Will other facilities be available?

              EDIT: I can't read, apparently...

              • Glen Taylor was a pretty terrible owner (although not as bad as the Pohlad’s) but I do appreciate he is making a significant contribution to this. Sounds like student housing needed to be a selling point to get this over the finish line. I mostly approve the design, just wish the seating capacity was higher. But otherwise, I’ve been waiting for this day for a LONG time! Can’t wait to make a donation! Go mavs and roll herd!!

Yeah, I was hoping for 1500 more, personally. But if they design it to be expandable, then it should be fine.

                  • I thought 6,500 was too much. But I won’t complain as long as they keep drawing 4,000 in November.

My theory is build it to fill, not to hope people will come just because you made it big. South Dakota did that with their basketball arena and they have a hard time breaking 2,000 in a 6,000 seat facility.

It also seems obvious to me that this is not a D-1 play. If it were, they would be talking 10,000 seat stadium, not 6,500.

Cant wait to watch them play at the track in 2028!

                    • This may have gotten lost in the shuffle but MSU is also expanding their ag business classes according to a speaker at my brother's meeting the other day. With the U of MN ag campus buried in the heart of St Paul the Gopher state has lost a lot of students to Iowa State, NDSU and SDSU. Hopefully this will help them keep some of them in state. I wish I had some more info on this.

The whole project will cost $60 million, and $30 million has already been raised. That is the most encouraging thing of all. And the next most encouraging is that they expect to raise the rest in the next two years.

This would be an interesting piece. The state could use a good ag school

I haven't followed this as closely as Mavs fans for sure, but if this project is completed for $60 million I will be quite surprised. I don't remember exactly where Dacotah Bank Stadium and Koehler Field ended up, but it was north of $40 million.. and that was completed 5 years ago.

I could be wrong, but I think they are running this in tandem with the new Innovation Center that just opened. That's how I heard about it. Given my split loyalties with SMSU, I'm a little torn on it. Be interesting to see what direction MSU takes this.

The U is a pretty selective school, and given NDSU and SDSU are right on the border (and the former is in a fairly large city itself), it makes sense that we're losing a lot of Ag Students when the only other options are Marshall and Crookston.

I know the project is broken out into phases, so maybe it's the get-in price to move the project into the first phase?
