I don’t blame him. I’m sure he sees this as a step in the right direction for his career. At least he is moving up. The others were lateral moves which really hurt.

For the most part, while the previous OCs moves were lateral they all made sense. Most of them were going "home" to some extent or another. Either closer to actual home or where they had played/coached before. That is the risk of hiring young coaches with high potential. Unfortunately, I think we need to be honest and understand that NSU is not a destination for young coaches, but rather a stepping stone. I would love to see some continuity on the staff but it may just not be realistic in today's collegiate landscape. Of course you hear lots of rumors trying to explain the turnover (mostly from people that have never been big fans of Schmidt), but for now I choose to believe he has hired some good young coaches that had opportunities that fit with what they want from their coaching careers.

Good luck to Coach Price and hopefully he can maintain the momentum from last season with the offense.

Good recruiting for northern the last 5 years. Defense had a lot of injuries with talented players out. Wouldn't give up on your coach so easily. He's a good one.

Can't blame him, or anyone, for moving on, but it sure is frustrating. I just can't imagine wanting to coach in this era. Though it is never coming back, I just loved the continuity and the player development, now it’s just like a fantasy draft each year. And there is already so much time spent on just the coaching, now you are hunting recruits, rentals and coaches constantly.

Brayle is one and done. Lost another OC in one year. At least he’s moving up to FCS.

This certainly will hurt the Wolves. He's off to Gardner Webb with the UTPB HC in the FCS world. The NSU offense got a shot in the arm with him this last season.

This is my biggest question mark with Schmidt’s leadership. Granted, it appears they have cleaned things up a bit from the days of multiple dead ball fouls that were nothing more than lack of discipline but the end of the UJ game on Saturday was downright ridiculous. UJ recovers an onside kick, scores a touchdown to get within a score and then following the extra point a Northern player stays on the field screaming at the officials and gets not one but two personal fouls. By the time he was done, Jamestown was trying another onside kick fairly deep in Northern territory. That guy would have found his own ride back home in some programs but it’s the kind of stuff that seems to get condoned or not dealt with on Schmidt’s teams in a way that causes it to repeat itself.

Things have gotten better over the the last couple years in this regard but he still allows too much of this non sense in my opinion. Lorenzo did something similar in at least three games this year that really impacted the game but it was never dealt with.

Are you expecting us to have backups who are All-Americans? I’m honestly confused about how anyone is supposed to replace the best three players in the conference, if not the entire nation, at their respective positions. I’m just as disappointed as anyone with how the season ended, but a lack of depth or development is the last thing I’d point to as an issue with Schmidt. We had back ups that were also out on the defensive side of the ball. On another note I am sick and tired of the 15 yard penalties for taunting the other team or talking to the refs. If there is one thing that needs to be fixed it is that.
