Played in the Football tournament last Saturday. good turnout. great time. Looking forward to the season.

If I have any sliver of optimism, it comes from a few guys returning from injury....most notably DE Avery Johnson and WR Sam Campbell. I like the stable of quarterbacks too....hopefully they can stay healthy.Comment

both Avery Johnson and Sam Campbell got hurt in the first freaking half of the first game too. Talk about just bad luck.

observations:
1. I agree on Campbell and Avery Johnson, both looked good until hurt. we should be much better with them in the lineup
2. I expect big things from the QB - should help having Campbell, Auten, and Ola- Kazzem out there at the same time - rarely have we had more than one healthy at the same time... need one of the young receivers to become a stud
3. Xander Wolf who played RB the last years has no number now -- either hurt or decided to redshirt not sure what it is
4. Line has experience but young -- needs to be much better.
5. Marshall kids all on the 2 deep - lets see if they can make the jump -- I am excited about their potential
6. we finally have some kicking and punting depth
7.. I think 4 RBs play a lot -- the 2 listed and then the kid from Aitken and the kid from Pella Iowa. --- how they look likely depends on inmproved line play
8. can we pass block? if we can, we might score some points
9. #32 Jack Meier will look way beyond a freshman out there
10. I expect #18 Murphy to turn into a player by the end of the yearComment

thoughts:
1. defense played well. competition is what it is but defense played well
2. offense was eh -- Crowton's numbers look ok, but he did not play great. missed a bunch of throws and was late on a couple of sure tds
3. I am not sure about the running scheme... the RPO and hand offs were slow--- given where our line is, I would just prefer hand it off and run, not stand and read. Crowton is not a huge running threat -- I loves that RPO with Charlie Kern and he was a real threat -- i don't see that withj Crowton.
4. Some youngsters played well #2 Brody Willis, #6 Carter Ellis, # 11 Josh Lancifort #32 Jack Meier #33 Hunter Hanegraff
5. kicker will be fine despite the misses. he at least booted it deep on kickoffs which he could not do last year - improved.
6 defintely disappointing that we could not punch it in -- need that to be fixed
If I could change one thing it would be to just hand the ball off and run - there were holes up from to run but we stutter stepped and held the ball in the backfield, I admit I don't get it.
