    Prediction for this season 9-2

    vs Chadron St. - W
    vs Winona - W
    vs Southwest - W
    @ Kato - L
    vs Bemidji - W
    @ Duluth - L
    @ Moorhead - W
    vs Augie - W
    @ Minot - W
    vs Jamestown - W

If we go 1-2 against the top 3 on the schedule I think 9-2 is very doable. Will be interesting to see if the offense is as high powered as last year with a new OC. If the defense stays healthy I think they will be really really good. When you have all conference players at every level of the defense including all 3 linebackers (Adams, Szymanski, and Logan) you have a great chance to be successful. Secondary should be solid with Jopp and Keegan. Very excited to see what this team can do. I get that some may not be as optimistic but I do not understand all the negativity towards the team when there has not been a game played yet... just my two cents.

Prediction for this season 7-4. Very much benefit from being in the North Division but do play debatably the best 2 South Division schools.

    vs Chadron St. - W (50/50 game)
    vs Winona - L (50/50 game)
    vs Southwest - W
    @ Kato - L (blowout)
    vs Bemidji - W
    @ Duluth - L
    @ Moorhead - W
    vs Augie - L
@ Minot - W (has not went in favor the past few years)
vs Jamestown - W (could you imagine if Dosch comes into The Bank and gets a W.......)

Confused where all the hype is coming from for Winona this year?

I agree with Waldo in that I think 9-2 is achievable, and I think a lot of NSU fans are at that point. The problem is, this program has just not proven capable of doing that yet. It will take 1-2 against Mankato, Duluth, and Augie. Schmidt has taken down one big opponent every season so I think NSU wins one of those games. The problem is, the Wolves then need to win the other 8 games on the schedule. Chadron, Winona, Bemidji, and Moorhead are all games I think NSU can and should win but are far from guarantees. SMSU, Mary, Minot, and Jamestown are must wins, but Schmidt teams have lost one of those every year as well. That can't happen this season.

Week zero vs Chadron is going to be a huge game for the Wolves. They had a really good season last year and have the preseason QB pick for the RMAC. If NSU can win that one, it will be a great start to the season.

Odds on favorite at this point would be Ty Englehart, a 5th year senior transfer from Presbyterian College. However, NSU has a recent track record of bringing in QB transfers that are unable to win the job in camp.

I believe it's between Ty and Holden Havlick. Side note: this has to be the first time in the NSIC era that we've had both the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year on the same team. Does anyone remember the last Northern player being named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year before?

Chances of being the traditional 6-5 this year? 83%

My Bud Zimmy is high on Winona; not sure I agree with him. Will this be the year NSU finally beats Augie, it's been a long time since 2003. I'm wondering if Mary will have a breakout season?

I just wasn't sure if they brough a lot of guys back or had some transfers come in but seems like they have been down for a couple years now.

Halloween, night game, and at the Bank... if its not this year I am not sure it will ever happen again!!

I think Mary could be scrappy but I don't see anything over 6-5 which would be a good year for them.

I haven't heard much about it, but is Britt in the equation?

Got hurt in the Spring. He's done. They will have a competition with a few guys.

Brutal. Feel for the kid. Not saying he would have turned into an all-conference qb but his legs had value to the Wolves.

Just a gut feeling on my part, every few years they pop off for an 8 win season and contend for playoffs. I think the schedule lines up okay for them this year to have a good season
