Hays swept a 4 game home series with MSU Denver. That's one more win than the entire 2019 season.

No Texas teams in Houston for the first time since CentralMO started hosting games there. The Lone Star, with the addition of some of the old Heartland schools, now has a 14 team conference. Each school is playing 11 teams 4 times and the other 2 teams 3 times to get to the allowed 50 games.

This year there were 3 teams from the Central region, (CentralMO, Ark Tech & Ark Monticello) joined by Flagler (Peach Belt), CO Mines (RMAC) & Millersville (PSAC). There were no regional games as each of the Central regional teams played 1 game against the other 3 teams. The results were:

        3-0 Flagler
2-1 CentralMO, CO Mines & Millersville
0-3 Ark Tech & Ark Monticello

On Friday the Mules were tied at 2 in the 9th when Flagler's catcher Fiorenza hit a 2 run homer in the top of the inning. The Saints held on for a 4-2 win.
On Saturday the Mules run ruled Millersville in 8, 10-0.
On Sunday, CO Mines stranded 16 runners thanks in big part to 6 walks & 8 hit batters by Mule pitchers. They lead 4-2 with 2 outs and 2 strikes on 2019 MIAA MVP Erik Webb when Webb tied the game with a 2 run shot to left. The Mules won 5-4 in 10.

The Mules took 3 of 4 from Arkansas Tech last weekend, out scoring the Wonder Boys 20-7. Big weekend for Mule starting pitching as the starters only allowed 1 run in 21-1/3 innnings. Green, Fowler & Sprinkle didn't allow any runs in their 5 innings of work. Colin Jones took a no-hitter into the 7th before allowing a run.

If they were, they're not very good at it. The Mules have around a .500 record over the years at this event.

The Mules took 3 of 4 from Mary last weekend in a series featuring good pitching, or bad hitting, for both teams. Both teams scored only 16 runs in the 4 games. Mary out hit the Mules 28-27 in the series.

The starters for the Mules have some great numbers so far (this does include a relief outing for Jones):

                  Code:
                  [FONT=courier new]                   W-L  ERA   OBA   SO/W
                  Mason Green 0-0 0.00 .104 21/5
                  Jordan Fowler 2-1 1.20 .122 18/6
                  Collin Jones 1-0 1.80 .200 18/2
                  Jonathan Sprinkle 1-0 2.45 .184 18/5
                                     4-1 1.29 .153 75/18[/FONT]
Closer Evan Rathburn has also been sharp so far as he has 2 wins, 2 saves and has not allowed a run in his 4 appearances.

Note: At this time he only has 1 win according to the UCM website as they list no winning pitcher in the first game against Mary. Rathburn entered the game with 2 outs in the 7th (scheduled 7 inning game) and retired all 4 batters he faced before the Mules won the game in the bottom of the 8th. I assume they will get this corrected with the next update of the statistics.

                      Week 2 in the MIAA is in the books. Sweeps for CentralMO(Newman), CentralOK(Hays), Southern(Washburn) & Western(Rogers). 2-1 series wins for Emporia(Northwest) & Pitt(Northeastern).

The opponents w/l % in my standings in conference games only. I'm way too lazy to figure that for all opponents. It's way too early for opp% to matter at this point. An example is Washburn. They were just swept by Southern. Most would expect Southern to be a good team and help Washburns opp%, but at this point Southern has lost all 3 MIAA games that weren't against Washburn. On the other hand, Washburn's other opponent Western has won all 3 games that weren't against Washburn so Washburn's opponents are 3-3 (50%).

The opp% will matter as we get deeper into the season. Last season after 7 series were completed, CentralOK was 12-9 but their opp% was 65.1%. It wasn't a surprise when the Bronchos won 10 of their last 12 games.

                      Code:
                      POS SCHOOL W-L % GB OPP% OVERALL
                       1 CentralMO 6-0 100.0 0.0 (16.7) 18-3
                       2 CentralOK 5-1 83.3 1.0 (16.7) 16-3
                          Emporia 5-1 83.3 1.0 (66.7) 13-7
                       4 Pitt 4-2 66.7 2.0 (33.3) 13-8
                       5 Southern 3-3 50.0 3.0 (83.3) 16-4
                          Washburn 3-3 50.0 3.0 (50.0) 11-11
                          Northeastern 3-3 50.0 3.0 (50.0) 9-10
                          Western 3-3 50.0 3.0 (0.0) 8-15
                       9 Northwest 2-4 33.3 4.0 (66.7) 7-13
                      10 Hays 1-5 16.7 5.0 (66.7) 11-11
                          Newman 1-5 16.7 5.0 (100.0) 6-15
                      12 Rogers 0-6 0.0 6.0 (50.0) 9-10

Note: The OPP% is conference games only.
If no games are cancelled, everyone will finish at 50%.
