With last weekend's results, both the Beavers and Mavericks have locked up WCHA Playoff berths already. Looking at the standings, it appears Mankato can finish no worse than 6th and Bemidji no worse than 7th.

Mavs and Beavers will see each other in a few weeks in Bemidji to close the year. As a Beaver fan, I hope the Beavers are still within striking distance so the series means something!

Mavs trail 3-0, score twice but the Beavers get an empty netter and get a road win 4-2 in front of over 5200.

It looks like Mankato could be without Marc Michaelis and Jake Jaremko this weekend due to injuries. I guess we will see come game time.
Tonight will be huge. If the Mavs win, pressure with be on the Beavers Saturday. Conversely, MSU can't afford to get swept at home, or even a loss and a tie. With the series returning to BSU in a little more than a month to end the regular season the fireworks are just beginning.

It is a good read and has sparked some discussion over on USCHO as well. Even though BSU is claiming that taking the Beavers off of Lakeland Public Television has helped attendance, I think it has hurt. I have talked to a few people that have basically said, "out of sight, out of mind". And I will admit, I have kind of fallen into that area living 2.5 hours from Bemidji. I could pay $150 for the WCHA.tv package, but have heard that the BSU broadcasts (cameras and graphics) have gone down hill since the move. Also, with us billeting local junior hockey players along with my kids playing hockey, not having them easily accessible on the TV makes me find other things to do. But when they were on TV and I could turn a game on when I was home, it made it easier to follow the team and actually want to make the trip to Bemidji. We used to make 3 trips to Bemidji at a minimum, we are now going on our third year of making 0.

At least we have the Beaver Radio Network and streaming audio to keep up with them if I am doing other things.
