The Big10 really took it on the chin last night losing three games to Atlantic Hockey and a game to CCHA Michigan Tech! Goofers beat Mercyhurst and Michigan beat Lake Superior State for a 2-4 OOC record last night.

I'm stopping this before it gets started. Mary is NOT moving to NCAA D1. It is ACHA D1 that they are moving to.

A sad day for Bemidji State and the hockey community in general. RH "Bob" Peters has passed away at 84.

As someone who didn't know a lot about hockey until I attended BSU, he sure did help me develop my current love for the game. Wow, the stories he could tell!

                      Godspeed RH!

The women's hockey national tournament will increase from 8 to 11 teams this season.

Expansion is great, but why not an even numbered 12 team tournament? Are their not enough teams for that? I follow NCAA Men's Ice hockey, but I don't know much about the Women's game.

                          ???

I think that 12 would be the right number and that 11 just leads to complications. I think that D3 has 11. Something to do with the total number of teams with the sport. It is the NCAA so it isn't supposed to make any sense.

It is not that hard to do an 11 team bracket - first round the bottom six play, and when that round is done you have an even 8.

With 12, the most common approach is to have 4 byes with the remaining 8 teams playing down to 4 in the first round then you are at 8...

So the principle difference is that you have one more bye...
