The Mule's season came to an end today in game 7, as Augie wins 9-5. Each team had 8 hits but 7 of Augie's 8 (by 6 different batters) were for extra bases (more on that in a minute) and only 3 of CentralMO's (a home run and 2 doubles by Garrett Pennington) were. 3 of those 7 extra base hits happened on 4 pitches in the bottom of the 2nd and Augie never trailed after that. Those 3 hits were they only time Augie had more than 1 hit in an inning.

Augie started the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an rbi double by Jordan Barth. The Mules answered with 3 in the 2nd on a double, 2 singles and 2 hit batsmen. The inning ended with a runner thrown out trying to take 3rd on a pitch in the dirt (if Tompkins Field had dirt). The first 3 innings ended on the base paths for the Mules as the 1st ended on a strikeout/throw out double play and the 3rd ended with a runner picked off of 2nd base.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd, Augie took over the game on the next 4 pitches. Those pitches resulted in a home run (Luke Ballweg), another home run (Drey Dirksen), a hit batter and a third home run (Carter Howell). Augie's only hit in the 3rd was an rbi triple by Jack Hines, who scored 2 batters later on a squeeze bunt. The only Augie hit in the 4th was a 2-run homer by Will Olson. Their first 6 hit were for extra bases driving in 8 runs.

Tanner Brown (9-1) making his 2nd start of the regional got the win allowing 5 runs in 5-2/3 innings. Seth Miller got the final 10 outs allowing only 1 hit for his 4th save and 2nd of the regional.

Augie will head to Magnolia to play SoArk next weekend.
