Texas moves on Sunday night, knocking out Oregon.

Oklahoma/Kansas game two was suspended in the second inning due to weather. Oklahoma is already up 8-1. Even though Kansas won the Big12 and are the host, they have lost 15 of their last 17 to Oklahoma.

St. John's/Alabama game two was suspended in the eighth inning due to weather. Alabama is up 7-2. Doesn't look like we will get a Northern team in Omaha this year.

Troy and West Virginia are making their first trips to the CWS.

Alabama and Oklahoma both win their suspended games, so all eight teams for Omaha are known.

Bracket 1: Troy (SBC), #16 West Virginia (Big12), Ole Miss (SEC), #5 North Carolina (ACC) (Games start Friday)
Bracket 2. Oklahoma (SEC), #7 Alabama (SEC), #6 Texas (SEC), #3 Georgia (SEC) (Games start Saturday)

For me it's Troy or anyone but the $ec. You know that's all we're going to hear from esecpn.

Agreed. I never thought about that before posting my preferences, but I agree with you. They were already gassing on and on during the superregionals.

University of Mary baseball head coach Tanner Spencer has resigned his post with the Marauders. He accepted a position at UCCS that allows his family to move closer to home.

Sooners blank the Tide 9-0. Georgia tops Texas 7-1 with 15 strikeouts and a complete game.

Troy (Sun Belt) and West Virginia (Big12) will play Tuesday afternoon in a loser out game. The winner will have to beat North Carolina twice to move onto the Championship Series.

Today (Monday), Alabama (SEC) and Texas (SEC) play a loser out game, Georgia (SEC) and Oklahoma (SEC) will play to see who moves onto the bracket championship on Wednesday.

Way back when, didn't the loser's bracket cross over to the other side? Seems to me that you could be the second best team there but since they don't cross bracket you have to play the same team that beat you again.

                          Yep! According to Google:

1950-1987, it was a true, double elimination format with cross over play in the loser's bracket. They kept playing down until there was only one team left with fewer than two losses.

1988, they adjusted it to a two, four team, double elimination brackets with no crossovers. The winners of each bracket played a one game final, regardless of number of losses.

2003, the final was adjusted to a three game series.

Last night's game between Oklahoma and Georgia was a good one. Oklahoma held on for a 4-3 victory. But, Georgia had two on with two out in the top of the ninth, with the front runner for the Golden Spikes Player of the Year, Daniel Jackson up. Jackson had made it 4-3 earlier with a 440+ foot shot, but this at bat, just warning track power.

Tuesday's slate is two loser out games. West Virginia (Big12) and Troy (SunBelt) play in the afternoon, Georgia (SEC) and Texas (SEC) in the night cap.

North Carolina (ACC) and Oklahoma (SEC) are both 2-0 and will enjoy a day of rest before Wednesday's games.

Troy's Cinderella run is over, they fall to West Virginia 12-0. West Virginia will continue their first year run tomorrow against North Carolina. The Mountaineers will need to win twice to move on to the CWS.
