The hockey landscape has come up with a counterproposal to the NCAA's "5x5" rule.

They have club hockey. Nothing online talking about a varsity team.

Maybe it's fake - but this has been making the rounds today.

Guessing it's fake. I thought it was weird... Creighton doesn't seem like a hockey school candidate.

I think some of the people sharing it had a little bit more reputation and that's what got me. Carry on.

Interesting read regarding budgets for D1 hockey programs for public schools.

A great Q and A with Bemidji State's AD Britt Laurtisen on the evolving landscape of D-I hockey at a D-II institution. Sorry, it is behind a Forum Pay Wall, but if you can get into it, it is a good read.

The NCAA unanimously approved the "Five for Five" rule today, starting with the academic year immediately AFTER a player's 19th birthday. It starts this academic year.

Current athletes who have already completed the traditional four years of eligibility do not automatically get a fifth year.

Current Junior Hockey players who are 20 are grandfathered. The NCAA will evaluate and grant whichever model, the delayed enrollment or 5 for 5, gives the player the most eligibility.
