Mavs Tab Jackson as Head Coach

Tremaine Jackson has been named as the new head football coach at Colorado Mesa University, Maverick Co-Director of Athletics Bryan Rooks and Kris Mort announced late Monday afternoon.
 
A native of Houston, Texas, Jackson has most recently served as the defensive line coach at Division I (FBS) Texas State University after two seasons as the defensive coordinator at Division I-FCS Abilene Christian University (2017-18).  He also has successful Division II experience as the assistant head coach at the University of Sioux Falls, where he helped guide the Cougars to a combined 32-5 record, a 2016 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship and post-season appearances in all three years after being promoted to the Cougars' defensive coordinator (2014-16).  He had started in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as USF's defensive line coach in 2013.
