I had an opportunity to speak with Arkansas-Monticello Head Football Coach Hud Jackson about UAM Football and the upcoming season. Below is a transcript of our conversation. [Editorial note: Parts of this interview were edited to preserve the flow of the conversation.]
Armo: Coach Jackson, thanks for taking time out of your schedule to speak with me today about Arkansas-Monticello Football.
Coach Jackson: I appreciate the opportunity.
Armo: Last year you had a great turnaround, winning five games compared to the one victory the in 2012. How do you keep the positive momentum rolling?
Coach Jackson
Armo: Last year your defense was a little bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand you had the top pass defense in the GAC, on the other hand your run defense ranked towards the bottom of the conference. Could you talk about what steps have you taken to shore up the run defense?
Coach Jackson
Armo: Switching to the offense, in the off season you hired Kyle Shipp as the Offensive Coordinator. What set Coach Shipp apart from the other candidates for the offensive coordinator position?
Coach Jackson
Armo: Offensively you lost Wide Receiver Jamal Nixon. What does his loss mean to your offense and how are you overcoming that loss as you head into the 2014 season?
Coach Jackson
Armo: Several players with significant experience return on offense, particularly at quarterback. Are Boll Weevil fans likely to see a rotation of quarterbacks this season like they saw last year?
Coach Jackson
Armo: You open the season on September 6th at home against East Central. Could you talk about what it means for the Boll Weevils to open at home this year?
Coach Jackson
Armo: Coach Jackson, once again I want to thank you for taking time to discuss Arkansas-Monticello football with me today.
Coach Jackson: I appreciate the opportunity.
