PSAC West Preseason Rankings
8. Seton Hill
Head Coach: Isaac Collins Career Record at school: 0-0 (First year)
2012 Record: 0-11 (0-8)
Top Returning players: QB Andrew Jackson, WR Niko Hall-Brown, LB Tyler Zimmer
Analysis:Extra Points:7. Gannon
Head Coach: Brady Rzyckzycki Career Record at School: 3-8 (2nd Year)
2012 Record: 3-8 (1-6)
Top Returning players: WR Abraham Ocasio, WR Justin Caliste, QB Liam Nadler
Analysis:Extra Points: 6. Edinboro
Head Coach: Scott Browning Career Record at school: 49-29 (7th year)
2012 Record: 4-6 (3-4)
Top Returning Players: QB Cody Harris, WR Marcus Johnson, CB James Jackson
Analysis: Extra Points: They should get back over .500 if they stay healthy, but I expect some of the same struggles as last year. Scott Browning knows they have to run the ball and stop the run if they want to improve the Win-Loss record.
5. Clarion
Head Coach: Jay Foster Career Record at School: 23-54 (8th year)
2012 Record: 4-7 (2-5)
Top Returning Players: QB Ben Fiscus, DE Julian Howsare, WR Jon Reid
Analysis:Extra Points:4. Mercyhurst
Head Coach: Marty Schaetzle Career Record at School: 55-66 (12th year)
2012 Record: 9-2 (6-1)
Top Returning players: RB Brandon Brown-Dukes, DL Dustin Galich, QB Anthony Vendemia
Analysis:Extra Points: Mercyhurst has a lot of confidence and momentum from last year, but there are a lot of unsettled positions. I will not be surprised if they finish higher than my projection of fourth, but I think they're a year away from contending for the title.
3. California
Head Coach: Mike Kellar Career Record at School: 8-3 (2nd year)
2012 Record: 8-3 (5-2)
Top Returning Players: WR Mike Williams, LB B.J. Stevens, WR Trey Johnson
Analysis:Extra Points:2. Slippery Rock
Head Coach: George Mihalik Career Record at School: 167-103-4 (25th year)
2012 Record: 6-5 (5-2)
Top Returning players: WR LaQuinn Stephens-Howling, LB Quindell Dean, DE Derek Walker
Analysis:Extra Points: A lot of talent is back and their toughest divisional games are all at home. If they can avoid injury problems, they will be in the fight for the West division.
1. Indiana
Head Coach: Curt Cignetti Career Record at School: 19-5 (3rd year)
2012 Record: 12-2 (6-1) *PSAC West Champion, PSAC Champion, NCAA Playoff team
Top Returning Players: LB Alex Berdhal, LB Carl Fleming, DB Jerell McFadden
Analysis:Extra Points: The Final word: I feel pretty confident with IUP at number 1, but any of the top four could win the division. Things are just as close in the bottom half. Seton Hill is a pretty obvious pick for last place but Clarion, Gannon and Edinboro should have a very tight battle for fifth.
