Technically, this is not a championship game. The MEC does not have divisions, so all 11 teams play each other. The fact that the deciding game comes down to these two teams in the final week is a very fortunate circumstance for all of us. Concord is my pick to win but taking victory at Ram Stadium is very tough to do.

Other important matchups

#12 West Chester (9-1) at IUP (6-4) 1:00
A loss would not necessarily eliminate West Chester from the playoff picture, but it could. Concord and Bloomsburg are basically locked in but if they lose, their opponents this week (Slippery Rock and Shepherd) could also earn playoff spots and that could leave the Golden Rams vulnerable. At 6-4, IUP is not where we expected them to be but they are still a very talented team and this is their final chance to beat a good team in 2014.

Lock Haven (2-8) at California (7-2) 1:00
Not a very captivating match up but it could still be important. California is not out of the race yet. The three teams ranked directly ahead of Cal (Shepherd, VSU and Slippery Rock) are all playing teams ranked in the top 5. If all three lose, Cal could be right there to move up to the #6 seed and take the final spot in the playoff field. The Vulcans have head to head wins over Slippery Rock and Virginia State, and should jump ahead if each team takes a third D2 loss. Shepherd and Cal would then be tied at 8-2 but as of now, OWP favors the Vulcans.

Urbana (3-7) at Charleson (7-3) 1:00
Charleston holds down the #10 spot in the rankings and even though there will be losses ahead of them, there is really no way for them to advance far enough, especially with no head to head victories any other ranked teams.
