Three weeks are down in the 2015 season, which means were are already at the quarter mile post. As I've done in past seasons, I've ranked the teams from 1-16 based on the games played to date. 16 teams, four teams per quarter and we're a quarter of the way through the season. I think you get the idea. As you will see, the top is very West-heavy. All the best teams appear to be in the West this season. The West did better in out of conference games in week 1 and also beat the east in head to head competition in weeks 2 and 3 with a record of 11-5. Mercyhurst, Gannon, Slippery Rock and Clarion (all West schools) were the only teams to win both crossover games.

Here are my rankings for the first quarter of 2015

The First Quarter

1. Slippery Rock (3-0, 0-0)2. Mercyhurst (3-0, 0-0)3. Gannon (3-0, 0-0)4. Clarion (3-0, 0-0)The Second Quarter

5. California (2-1, 0-0)6. Shippensburg (2-1, 0-0)7. West Chester (1-2, 0-0)
8. IUP (1-1, 0-0)
The Third Quarter

9. East Stroudsburg (1-2, 0-0)10. Bloomsburg (1-2, 0-0)11. Kutztown (1-2, 0-0)12. Seton Hill (1-2, 0-0)
Last week Seton Hill was a play away from earning their most impressive victory since joining the PSAC and most significant since a playoff win at American International in 2008. The Griffins had West Chester on the ropes when they scored to take a 38-34 lead with 5:29 remaining in the game, but they were unable to hold on. It was a good showing for the Griffins and it may give them some confidence heading into divisional play, but the defense is still struggling and the offense is not as strong as it was a year ago. The next three games will be brutal, but if they get better during that stretch they may be able to compete with Clarion and should be able to topple Edinboro. But it will still probably be a three win season, at best.

The Fourth Quarter

13. Edinboro (0-3, 0-0)14. Lock Haven (0-3, 0-0)15. Millersville (0-3, 0-0)16. Cheyney (0-3, 0-0)[email protected] and you can follow me on Twitter @D2Chuck
