BLUE RIDGE CABLE NETWORKChampionship FluffWe have yet to have a repeat champion as the last seven years have delivered seven difference champions. West Chester could make it 8 or 8 (exactly half the PSAC) with a win on Saturday. I wonder how many other conferences would be able to say that half their members have won a championship in the last 8 years.

Since 2008, 8 teams have participated in the championship. Of those 8, West Chester is the only team yet to win it.

The West currently has the slight 4-3 edge in championships won.

Slippery Rock and West Chester have met only 15 times on the field and 5 of those meetings have been in the PSAC Championship game. Slippery Rock holds a 3-2 advantage in championship games with wins in 1972, 1973 and 1974. West Chester beat Rock for the championship in 1961 and 1963. This will be the sixth meeting in the championship game, which is the most between any two opponents.

The Rams have lost their last 8 appearances in the title game and are looking for their first overall title since 1971. However, West Chester still leads the PSAC in championships won with 18.
