Mihalik Announces Retirement
Long-time Rock head coach George Mihalik announced on Wednesday that the 2015 championship season was his last. He will retire from his position as a head coach and SRU faculty member in January. Mihalik spent 44 years at Slippery Rock as a student athlete, assistant coach and head coach. His final record at the Rock over 28 years as head coach is 197-111-4. He is the winningest coach in SRU program history. His teams won 8 PSAC West Division championships and made six trips to the post season, including the last three consecutively.
I congratulate coach Mihalik for his success as a coach, teacher and mentor and commend him for stepping down only after setting up the program for continued success.
