Slippery RockThe RockThe Rock, they managed to hold on for an 8 point win at West Chester, despite surrendering 500 yards of offense and allowing the Rams to hold the ball for nearly 40 minutes.

West Chester moved the ball well for most of the day but could not convert when they had to. The Rams turned the ball over on downs four times and turned the ball over via interception three times. There were several positives to take away for WCU though. They have to cut down on the turnovers, but controlling the clock and the ball are certainly good assets to build on. The Rams ran a total of 99 plays in the game, with Andrew Derr throwing the ball on 62 of those snaps. Penalties and turnovers were the problems for WCU on Saturday and you rarely beat a team as good as The Rock when you struggle in those areas.

Edinboro Lock HavenSeton HillGannon gutted out a fantastic victory at Shippensburg. The Golden Knights spotted 17 points to The Raiders in the first half, but steadily battled back and whittled away at the lead with 24 unanswered points over the next 30 minutes of play. The passing attack was inefficient (11 of 30) but did put up some big plays, including an 84 yard TD. 12 penalties is something that has to be addressed this week in practice.

Generally its not a good sign if Shippensburg has 0 passing TDs at the end of the day. That was the case on Saturday. The Raiders passed for 256 yards but the running game was held in check and the Raiders really struggled to finish drives.

Cheyney was unable to back up their winning performance of a week ago. CalBloomsburgClarion had opportunities in this game but repeatedly hurt themselves. Bloomsburg forced two critical fumbles in the fourth quarter, with the second being returned for a touchdown. The Eagles have been phenomenal against the bottom half of the PSAC but still have a lot to prove when facing off with the title contenders. The normally explosive passing game was only 17 of 38 for 210 yards.

The best result of the day has to go to Mercyhurst. The Lakers accomplished almost nothing on offense. They ran for only 62 yards and passed for 108, for a grand total of 170. But the defense stood tall on 3rd and 4th downs and they took advantage of Kutztown mistakes. Throw in a few big plays, including a blocked punt for TD and you have a nice upset victory. I still think the rest of this year will be a struggle for this very young team so this is a big win for them.

Kutztown East Stroudsburg scored 42 points but lost by 31. Sheesh. Welcome to the season, IUP. The Crimson Hawks put up an astounding 789 yards of total offense, which is a school record and the second highest output in PSAC history. Of course, the offense was led by Lenny Williams, who completed 20 of his 24 pass attempts for 380 yards and 3 TDs. He was also one of four Crimson Hawks to rush for more then 50 yards (85) and another 3 TDs. Receiver Walt Pegeus had a huge day, catching 12 balls for 195 yards.

East Stroudsburg did manage to put up a fight with nearly 500 yards of offense, led by Robert Healy who rushed for 157 and caught 7 passes for 117 yards. The 42 points scored is the most allowed by IUP[email protected] and you can follow me on Twitter @D2Chuck
