"The Tigers vs the Golden Rams" Morehouse vs Albany State University

Last Week's Game of the week, ASU vs Morehouse "The Best Game this Year in the SIAC lived up to its billing". Mr. Yusuf Davis (Sports Information Director, Morehouse College) asked me moments before the game, are you a journalist or fan tonight, obviously referring to me attending and graduating from ASU. My answer was, I am a both a journalist and a fan of SIAC football tonight, as I have attested all season. "Tonight we are looking at the best two teams in the SIAC in 2011" (Stillman, no offense) and they should represent the SIAC in any post-season play. While ASU defense stymied one of the most prolific running backs (Morehouse's David Carter) in recent years, there were some brief moments of glory as he gained a modest 45 yards on 20 carries. The lowest yard total in a contest this year for Carter. Many ASU fans vocalized the return of the "Dirty Blue", I am not yet convinced throughout the game. So far this year the ASU defense has not surfaced within the top 25 defensive teams in Division II statistics, historically a position anchored by the ASU defense. If I am to believe the "Dirty Blue" is back, I employ the defense to produce some shut outs (a statement by defenses). Stanley Jennings (ASU, QB) "Mr. All Universe", completed 15-of-28 passes for 200 yards and tossed two touchdown passes -- a 33-yarder to Octavius Staton and a 22-yarder to Ronnie Tubbs, launching his aerial assault against the number 4 defense (Morehouse) in the nation of Division II Football. The two TDs help ASU to a 19-2 halftime lead. Three players from the defense stood out, db Larry Whitfield (DB) a freshmen who is fastly becoming a force in his own right, Mr. Justin Blash (DL, pre-season all SIAC), continues to lead the defense as well and Rashad McRae (DB, four year starter) a defensive back that loves to hit and has shown that for four years. ASU must correct its kicking game within the next three weeks before the Inaugural SIAC Championship game on November 12 in Atlanta. Hats off to Uyl Joyner (ASU Offensive Coordinator) in keeping Morehouse's defense off guard with his play calling. Final Score ASU 25 vs Morehouse 15

Game of the Week-- Stillman 22 vs Fort Valley State University 25

A fan called tonight (Sunday) and asked which game would be the game of the week. When I told him Stillman vs FVSU, he asked "you are kidding right." My answer was an emphatically, no. Lets look at the facts I began to explain, the jury is still out on Stillman, and no one in the East Division are convince they should be in the Championship game. It is FVSU homecoming, as I have stated earlier, teams seem to play better during homecoming. Head Coach Donald Pittman has a chance to salvage a detrimental season and he will. I consider Stillman the underdog even though they seem to be headed to the Championship. Interesting fact with Stillman, the punter Ronnie Patridge pins opponent offenses inside the 20 yard line, making him a formidable weapon for the team. Consider him a serious threat for the defense.

Players to Watch: Stillman-Dondre Purnell (QB), Desmond Holloway (WR), Lakeevis Tabb (CB), Ronnie Patridge (P), Antonio Johnson (CB), Jarrell Thomas (LB), and Jeremy Hall (DL)

Fort Valley State University-DeMario Barber (KR), Winfred McAllister (QB), Justin Rosenbaum (K), Christopher Slaughter (WR) and Courtney Daniels (LB)

Rest of the SIAC- The conversation on all message boards now turn to post-season play, SIAC included. The question for many SIAC fans is, whether Stillman will forgo homecoming and participate in the Conference Championship if they are the West Division Champions. East Division fans are asking for a realignment of teams at some point during the future, as there is only one (Tuskegee University) perennial football power in the West. Stillman looks to set the record straight once they play for the Championship on November 12 at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta.

ASU 34 vs Clark-Atlanta 6
